who will join me?
    #3986277 - 03/29/05 05:30 PM (19 years, 4 days ago)

I am irrational, ignorant, unenlightened, unwise man who can not really know anything

Who will join me in my confession?

/raises hand

with the exception of irrational and ignorant...

wisdom is subjective... and enlightened people are far too common to actually be enlightened in terms of everyone else.

The Shroomery should have an enlightenment forum for how often people post that claim to be "enlightened".

Ignorance pulls irrationality with it, logic on false premises is as good as no logic at all. Ignorance, think of how humanity knows little, and think of how little of the collective knowledge of humanity you have. Look up into the stars at night and you will realise that knowledge is so far away from you.

Well... given a generalization of ignorance/irrationality... one can only give a generalized response.

I don't discuss nor assert anything that I don't know absolutely in an absolute context... Absolution/dogmatism/fanaticism/etc... is what I'd consider ignorance, especially with a mountain of evidence suggesting the converse of a situation.

Logic with false premises... isn't logic at all IMO.

By ignorance, I am simply refering to lack of information about something

:yesnod: In which case of no such ultimate absolute "anything" we all are ignorant... hence we should have a hell of a lot more posts in this thread.

Guess admitting you're human is a bit hard for some.

I don't understand anything, I'm constantly confused and everything scares the shit out of me.

I like it that way.

Being God ain't as cool as it seems.

Humility is simply dealing with reality. I believe in the concept of only being able to understand a certain aspect of any given object, such as the universe or a human being within the context of it's whole. That is, through understanding the whole and all the interactions within can you really fully understand any single part of that whole. That being said, it is impossible to fully understand the universe, or a human being. But to borrow some wisdom from the buddhists, it does not mean to stop, rather, it means to know it is an impossible mission and accept that fact but strive as hard as possible to accomplish that mission.

That about sums it up. But so what. That's the experience now. But you know that you have your moments of rationality. Sometimes you are wise, if only for a moment. Sounds like evolution to me. And you know that you don't know and that is knowing something. :mushroom2:

hmmm, a confession?

sheesh... i dunno, maybe something like:

i know that i don't know a lot...
and i realize that i will never (at least in this lifetime) know it all...
but i do know a little bit about a few things...
and i hope that i never stop learning...
