I like to grow certain "seasonal" varieties

Jf or other albinos for Christmas.

HBP for Halloween/fall/thanksgiving.(still waiting on those to do somthin) except it's looking like I need to just rip up the carpet and give it a good soak and see what the second flush have to offer.

When do you pick yours Langten? I notices that some of the big guys started to get a little bluish where the cap meets the stipe


Dude in the back looks healthy and growing strong. The Actual Dick in front looks like the cap is starting to lighten up and the bluing around the cap.


Cluster has the darker new growth color still.

I'm loving the 2oz jars for RGS starters from agar/LC

Get a good view to track progress, and swift colonization to 'noc up pints of oats or my new hybrid mix for manure lovers

Often I'll add + on label if the myc seems exceptionally fast, and prioritize those for expansion

I prefer small grains at start, as they can spread out further and hopefully have a week turnaround time expanding to fresh spawn media

You just squeeze it everyday? I've been reading about the marshmallow soft and wrinkling but wasn't sure if there was other visual signs. I'm trying to refrain from touching them too much to test. I'll see if they get wrinkly or not.

Tax: Thick bacterial Cabin Pan Plate vs clean pan plate.

I mean, I wouldn't squeeze em every day lol. Those can def go longer, the caps got pretty light on mine and the veils tore. Just let em ride :cool:

This is melmac, but see how fat and wrinkly the stipe gets.

Ill pick each fruit once I see that their individual veil has torn, sometimes thats one or 2 fruits at a time, sometimes thats an entire flush at a time, depends on how long Ive been away from them

But yeah its kind of a personal preference thing. You can definitely let them go longer if you want

@ Fonti - thanks for the picture!

@ Langten - i typically do the same. I'll let my dehydrator run for days at a time just picking mushrooms 1 by 1 as they are ready.

I wasn't aware that PE have a veil though. I didn't realize the caps would open. IME they always stayed closed/ close to the stipe but then again, i was doing AIO bag rescues and those fruits never got bigger than my thumb lol.

The caps dont really open up that much, but they do stay kinda crimped down on the stipe so you gotta get a good angle to see if the veil broke or not

You can see a tiny gap from the cap to the stipe if the veil broke
