Melmac tub coming along nicely, wish the pinset was a lil more even, but there's lots of tiny ones coming up already amidst the more mature fruits. Interested to see how it plays out.


Had extra bulk mix when making the tub and originally had this packed tighter in a bag, but it side pinned like crazy so I stuck it in a new bigger 2gal fahtbag and have this mega cake monstrosity. The big fruit is probably ~5" long at this point, excited to see how heavy it finishes out at. Growing this Melmac out has been a lot of fun, it's been about ten years since I've last done this. Cool to see how much has changed, everything seems to have an easier answer now lol, no more polyfil, no more modified lids, it's pretty sick.

After spending a whopping three days at home in the past month, we'll be recuperating for a bit. Something something 'work'. And gotta cult, too, those illicit drugs don't grow themselves.

Got some myco stuff too, these cultures courtesy of Kirkeng, generously passed on to me by odissey. Left to right tester jars of Ps subtropicalis 'Tres Soles', subtropicalis 'Xico' and zapotecorum 'Popocatepetl'

I tried to get my Mazatapec before they sporolated, but I missed by a couple hours. My first time starting from my own print, on my own agar, in my own rye jars.

Welp,  dehydrator shit the bed.
Went to pull out a few late flush stragglers ..noticed it wasn’t running and the top few trays were warped to shit.
Dafuq?
Regulator or some shit must have went wonky and overheated it to extinction .
Had the thing like 10 years or so mainly for camping foods. Guess the last two years of culting (and using it as a cult room a heater 😬)  ran it into the ground.

The one KSSS cluster is getting fat AF, still not sporulating. One lil guy on the side is, so I got some swabs while I wait for the big ones. Tidal wave going though, so got a lot of swabs and prints of that.



4oz B+ cake. Lotta swabs tonight so I taped it to the hood for access. Liking this so far.


Rabbit blob. Those look like gills, so I swabbed em. Saving chunks to scope when I can, wanna see if there are spores.

Second flush of the second GT (MS) cake inoculated on 07/18.



Another print for the collection... I like making them with these glass cups.



And that's how it's going, adding fruiting chambers. Tomorrow it's time to add 4 more cakes. Contaminant-free for now — and hopefully it stays that way.

PE isn't like regular cubes where it can be a sporefest once the veil starts to pop, or soon thereafter.  You can run PE's (some variants do sporulate) well into opened up caps and let them keep growing.  Don't pull early, you are looking good, patience will pay off.
