In the spirit of all those great “…..growers unite!” threads, Here is a place for the few of us who make our own Rapéh, Hapé, Rapé, Tobacco snuff or Whatever you call it.
All are welcome.
This topic is so few and far between I think we deserve a place to gather and share our knowledge, experiences and experimentation.
To start with my own experience.
My homegrown Rustica (much love to my trading buddy for the seeds)

I can’t say if it stands up to the fineness of Amazonian snuff, but I’ve been using one of those reusable Kcup inserts as my filter. I’m pretty confident it’s the finest I can get without going out of my way to buy specialty items. I’m a cheap fuck haha.
It’s a grind, sieve, re-grind, re-sieve, repeat until is all gone. Tedious but works well. It’s also a great time to impart your intentions.
First test was leaf yellowed on the plant.

Adding eggshell for the alkaline, plus my hand crafted kuripe from local bamboo and beeswax that I got raw from a local beekeeper and processed down myself. Cordage I had lying around…One day I’ll remake one with some Dogbane cordage.

After reading this, I decided on using green tobacco harvested and dried immediately with no curing process Why I chose green, uncured tobacco
Mugwort flower,Artemisia vulgaris

Sacred lotus stamen, Nelumbo nucifera, from a local pond

The final product: Rustica, Lotus, Mugwort, eggshell.

So far I’ve it few times, during the pre Gymn trip preparations. You can read that one in my sig.. There are other herbs I’d like to make a blend with too down the line… uva ursi, ghost pipes, yarrow, phalaris and chacruna to name a few.
Much love to those who understand that Tobacco isn’t the demon the modern world has made it into, if respected and approached in the right way.

Awesome post! Nice method, way more care than when I have made it. Really cool you grew the tabaco too. Mugwort is a really cool plant I have only collected it’s stolks and leaves not it’s flower.
How do you normally cure your tabaco leaves?

This is the Kuripe I made. Wood dowel fixed with epoxy putty painted and finished with microcrystalline wax.

That kuripe looks really comfortable. Nice job man! As far as curing, well, haven’t figured that part out yet. I used green leaf uncured and dried. I use it as a chew as well, especially with cannabis. The synergy is amazing. Got some other leaves in my shed just riding out the ambient conditions, so we’ll se how that goes.
Mugwort flower is the most potent part of the plant in my opinion. Definitely worth seeking. I’d be more than happy to send you some if you’d like, I have a bunch.

Thanks for the kind offer on the mugwort flower. I have loads of mugwort spots I’ll harvest them next time i see them flowering. I mainly use mugwort for smudging. It definitely has a power to it. It calls to me the way Brugmansia calls yet much more chill and gentle gravity.

Ash is my next thing to work out. I have a bushcraft twig stove that’s crafted for great airflow that I plan on making the ash with. It burns super efficient and if I remember correctly mainly leaves white ash. Think I might go with sassafras.
