Advice on cultivation from terrarium ready kit

I have recently acquired a p.cubenis grow kit on a trip to Amsterdam ? prepped to the stage where you put the kit in a terrarium and wait for the harvest, but I?ve got a couple of questions, as I?ve read conflicting advice online and on the instructions that come with the kit:

Instructions with the kit:

1: Clean aquarium thoroughly with a 10% bleach solution
2: Add enough sterile water to cover tank heater
3: Set heat to 26C and equilibrate tank, checking with tank thermometer
4: Place kit on top of some sterilized tiles so that the kit rests in a couple of 1-2 cm of water
5: Provide light source above tank so ?shrooms grow upwards.

?Your kit should ideally be grown in a sterile, humid environment at a temperature of about 26C with a little air circulation?

?Within a few days under the right conditions mushrooms should start to appear. After 2-4 days they should be fully grown. Harvest before cap fully opens and veil is intact. Sterile Scapel and tweezers should be used to harvest mushrooms?


Questions:
Is ?a few days? being optimistic? I?m currently 72 hours into my efforts of cultivation.

Air exchange ? I?m using a vivarium lid on my tank ? central sliding glass panel, small hole (plugged with cotton wool) on right hand side for heater power cord and a fine mesh grid on the left side of the tank (I can supply pictutes if it helps!)
Am I getting to much air exchange with the mesh grid? ? The tank is nice and humid though, plenty of condensed water on the walls

Hello there.

I havent ever seen that kit you are referring, but i am sure that GENERAL RULEZ apply to this kit also.

too optimistic imho. sometimes it gets weeks till you see pins! But when pins show up, its only a matter of days to harvest them. They grow very fast but they dont pin fast

This is how it works: when you put the mycelium inside the terrarium, its time to tell it that it have to stop growing and start fruiting. This means that you need light and fresh air [those that the mycelium cant find when its under the surface]. So, much fresh air cant be bad. Its better to have more fresh air than to have less. I have kept my terrarium [for different reasons] OPEN, so it was 100% fresh air all the time. The only problem is humidity. If it closed, you can control humidity. If its open, you cant, so you have to take care of it all the time.
