Yes I think these are the PE6. They can look like this.


Mine are very similar.

My first try with ochras after 1 year with Golden Teachers..

S2B after 10 days - insane colonization! Temp: from 22 to 26Celsius.

To frutification with GT I pass the cakes to my big water tub - I use the water tub tek with very nice results with GTs.

What special cautions I need with this now?

None IMO. Lookin strong. If water tub gave good conditions for GT, ochra should be happpy.

I'm pretty certain Lyle is correct about the fact that it's a cube and if it's a PE variety it probably reverted which isn't extremely uncommon. The colour is way off, Ochras aren't that brown all over the caps. These are almost definitely cubes, I'd be very surprised if they turn out to be another species.

Something worth nothing though. Decurrent gills are not a unique trait of Ochras which is something I realized the other day after Bamboozling myself with some Cubensis x7x Here. I thought I mixed the plates or jars up but apparently x7x also has deccurent gills so I wouldn't trust the gills only because cubes can also have deccurent gills. Nevertheless your mushrooms are most likely cubes, they do not resemble Ochras much at all imo.


This is good to know. First time ever hearing about cubes also having subdecurrent gills. That is 99% of what I was going off, since none of the cubes I have had them. I’m still learning. I do have some Ochra starting to sore knots in an ez dial. Can’t wait to see how they turn out!

I’m 99.999% sure that’s a reflection from something red nearby, you can see in the bottom right corner.

Jars are just white, no obvious discolouration

The third pic does show something red in the bottom right corner, probably a reflection or flash of the camera, but as far as I can tell looks fine to me. Ochra's are definitely ice cream sort of puffy surface.

You had me at polyfil, but yes, those are Ochras no doubt, I have a few cycles with tubs and bags, different variations of course, but Ochra nonetheless.  Similar to growing cubes, maybe a touch more air, but not to finnicky in my research.

Absolutely, it will throw you for a loop thinking it won't produce (looking like it does), but that's the way it is and will do fine (fills in over time).

Then it finishes up and surprises you, like WoW do your thing then, sorry to be so judgy.  :laugh:

Thank you. This grow was from 2 years ago, back then i dont remember reading they need more fae. Just wanted to be sure before i start them again, this time no polyfil :grin:

i had similar overlay from cubes once, probably from contaminated spawn, still got 1 flush :cool:

You mean x7x+, not x7x. No one has done a giveaway of x7x here in over a decade.

I've covered this again and again.....to the point that:

We've voted to change the name of x7x+ to Bukkake Sunrise so there's no confusion in the future.

If you want to use that, it will help reduce your bamboozeliment, and that of others.

Actually this wasn't a confusion but a mistake where I missed the +. I'm the one who wrote the post Joe was replying to and you already corrected me about this in the POTD thread Here:awesome: so yeah... My bad once again lol.

The name wasn't a part of the Bamboozling this time it was the Ochra-like appearance of the first flush, especially the gills so the initial speculation wasn't about whether it's x7x/x7x+ or not but I do support a name change since it's incredibly easy to miss the little +. It deserves a better name than bukkake sunrise though:lol:
