I was just going to pc a piece of foil, then place the cap on it under a canning jar. Idk, I've never made a print before.

I used a plastic specimen container for urine/stool samples β€” it's easy to get, and it's sterile. I simply placed the cap inside it using a Still Air Box. After the spores were deposited, I removed the cap (again inside the SAB). When I felt ready to grow another batch of shrooms (which didn't happen until almost six years later), I used sterile water for injection to make a spore suspension right in the container and filled syringes from it using the SAB. IMO this is much easier and much faster than taking spores from the foil and grow them on agar inside petri dishes.

Here's a jar with leftovers:

The only reason I'm making one is for long term storage, last thing I need is for the power to go out and my mycology fridge fruiting eleventybillion kinds of mushrooms

The plates will shrink up big time, but you usually can get them to jump off, hit or miss in my experience, and not something I do often.

I've heard that a better way to store spores is in water kept at a low temperature (above freezing) β€” they can remain viable for 5 years or even longer.

But in my case, I stored them dry in that plastic container at room temperature for 6 years, and after that, all six of my buckwheat jars showed growth in just five days β€” I've never seen that kind of speed with rice. Though I did use about 2.5 mL of spore suspension for each jar.

That Mac 118 looks familiar, I ran those back in March finally, they had been sitting patiently waiting for me.  A couple 6 qt shoe boxes.

Riptide OG Clone

Species: Ps. Cubensis
Variety: Riptide OG
Tub: 16L EZ dial
Spawn: Wheat
Amount of spawn: 1,2L
Ratio: 1:4
Substrate: Coir

Where it begins

Spawn

Substrate colonization

Pins

First flush

Harvest(405g wet)

Gills

Some of you might have read the story before, but I'll add it to this post anyway :snub:

So when I first joined up almost two years ago Nerdo was quick to offer me a starter pack because he is absolutely amazing, thanks man. One of the cubes I got was Riptide OG. I grew a couple of tubs and a novelty grow and they looked like this.

I wanted to do a giveaway so I decided to swab a couple of fruits, did the giveaway and kind of forgot aboute cubes for a minute. Over a year later cake wars came along and I thought it was time to give the old pf tek a try and the Riptide swabs was one of them.

I went pretty decent, but when I went to birth and dunk, the fucking cakes wouldn't come out of the jars :crankey: Oh well, most of the work and waiting was done so I decided to fruit them out the jars. One of the Riptide jars seemed to have what looked like a leucistic or albino pin, the cake had already shrunk a lot and I didn't expect the fruits to mature.

Took a clone and kind of forgot about it again, then I realized it was moving pretty quick on plates so I inoculated 3 jars, they moved pretty fast colonizing wheat as well. It pins like crazy and fills out a tub pretty good. These are not huge fruits and I'll admit they are devastating for the substrate come harvest, but they are neat and a joy to grow.

So 400g from 1,2L of spawn ain't nothing to write home about, but being an albino and don't come with the micro fruits blob thing first flush I would think this one might be a keeper, I will eat some when I find the time, but if this Riptide clone is potent(for a cube) I will go back and do more tubs. This was another grow during the heat wave and like the Yeti grow, probably suffered from it.

Carry on :awedance:
