uhm, my aardvark was just looking at his stuff and was complaining to me that he had no pins yet....so listen up you pros out there....
fully colonized rye grain was used to innoculate varying sized containers with varying substrates....well, wheat straw and crappy store bought dung, to be specific.....(no contams during colonization of rye...two experimental containers of dung/straw that were mixed thoroughly probably contammed due to excessive moisture and seriously slow growth)
anyway....everything was fully colonized when cased with 50/50 (and a twentieth part of oyster shells) (oh, the 50/50 was dry pasteurized at 250F in alum. foil cont.)
so, here we are. my aardvark and i. 10 days ago the first of the casings were laid. then 4 days agothe last of them.....
all this is in sterilite (73 qt) with perlite later and 1:16 ratio peroxide fer moisture....
in the first set of casings, there is almost complete coverage of the casing layer with good, healthy rhizomorphic strands- a.o.k.- except....where are the pins?
there are a total of four filter patches on this sterilite cont......two on either side....with a fan outside for air exchange IN ADDITION to the once a day fanning.
oh, for light, i have cut quarter sized holes in the top that are covered and sealed with clear polyethylene. expecting my overhead to penetrate and provide the pinning stimulus (when he peeks thru he can see the containers inside from the light of the other,knowwhutahmean?)
temps are between 70 and 80, usually resting at 75.
hygrometer says 85-90.
he's misting once or twice a day with that same 1:16 H202
the later casings are starting to show thru a bit...but i seriously think he should have gotten some pins by now....
i dont think i forgot anything (but the pics)
my aardvark says ants are good, and that rye seed to pasteurized straw (mixed up) is done in three days. and that pints of rye are done 4 or so.....super quick and bulky......oh, the store bought shit does work if pasteurized with the straw.....

oh...there are ice packs at the ready, waiting for a cold shock, but what would be a reasonable period to wait for my pins to set?

You shouldn't crosspost. Read what it says under Advanced Cultivation:

Go read it and notice how "experienced" is in bold letters.

lookin for a smidgeon of advice, not a reprimand from the little kid with a big head......thinkin maybe the light is insufficient or that possibly the humidity is a little low......he has a cool mist, too, but was ill-equipped space-wise to make it happen to his liking. he wishes this was outdoors, with 200 lbs of shit in a tent, so that the whole city could laff it up....when you grow mushes for food, especially outdoors, the primordia form all on their own.....so much simpler.....speaking of,anybody know any good morel spots in northern kentucky?

It was shocking to see you calling someone a fascist! I don't no where you live but I think you crossed a line. In my country it is not allowed to make the Hitler greating. You get busted for it!!! In that same line it is of same quality to call some-one a fascist.

you fucked up about posting in the wrong section. he just told you so. thats a question for the beginners forum its no where near the experienced level. it was your fault, just accept that and go on. get a new username and start over, and get a new outlook on getting help on this forum. anyone who has read this thread will think your an asshole, so go ahead and start fresh, and dont post in the experienced section until you read all the texts you claim to own. im sure all your answers are in those books, if you do have them. late.

uhm. since the EXTENT of a person's KNOWLEDGE obviously has bearing on someone's EXPERIENCE, i would say, in my defense, that my point was that i have cultivated many mushrooms already....laetiporous sulphureus will colonize most hardwood plugs very nicely, and outdoor fall fruitings can be enormous (60-70 lbs frsh, per flush, per stump.....)
i have also been known to dabble in mycophagy for the sheer pleasure of the FOOD. mushrooms just happen to be almost the entirety of my life....hunting chanties, yellow foots, matsutakes, morels, oysters.....all over the fucken place, too! to all you shroomers who don't know the joys of the texture of fresh lobster mushrooms, i suggest you visit the pac nw in the fall...the kings get HUGE!!!
anyway, i digress, but, uhm, i AM a dictionary.

Its not Latin.... I thought it was too..... Its Greek. << Joshua told me it wasn't Latin.
Greek Root : Psilocybe comes from the Greek root "psilos" meaning bald head and cubensis a name Earle assigned to this mushroom because it was first recognized as a new species from a species collected in Cuba.

i'm so glad someone has a clue...
i just take offense at all the nazi references...sheesh, how does one word come to mean another?
anyway, there are still a few cases that have some resistance to pinning....
over-incubation, overly high humidity......
there is no printed matter that could specifically address each and every setup....thus the utility of a FORUM....for discussion...for some reason, it just doesn't work for me.....
people think im a nazi, and that i'm out to sabotage the effing boards with one cross-posting, while some idiots blubber on and on about microwaving their pf cakes to kill contams or how tap water might do the same thing....and other people flat out refuse to believe anything thats not in the one book they own....
