Those are some nice, healthy colonies. I’ve found that “tanning” is a reliable indicator that a culture is going to stone. If you want a better chance at fruits, grab that little whisp sticking out around 2-3 o’clock in pic 3.

Thanks for the tip!
It’s crazy you said that because that’s kinda where I took transfers albeit when I took transfers I didn’t see any tanning a few days ago. I’ll go ahead and grab that whisp just in case though.
I’m aiming for both fruits and stones.
Tbh I always thought they wouldn’t fruit at all unless stones were present but I’m learning that’s not the case, it’s all genetic dependent.

Maketi Pin outside in the 102F heat for the past few days, threw an old umbrella over the area that is otherwise broken, but very useful in this situation.  4th Flush Monster coming, haven't seen any others pop, but who knows, went 3 rounds no problem so it's a freebie at this point just playing in the dirt (unscreened, you can see even a little gravel in there, still getting rocks out of my yard MANY years later :box:).

No, it is not possible to mate stones as spores mate.
The stones are just hard masses of mycelium.

Tax. That crazy fast and thorough colonizing cake is putting out a very middle-of-the road pinset. I'm a little disappointed, but I cloned them cause they were sleeper monsters on weigh in, so we might still be okay.

The "fruiter" plate from a mystery AIO clone culture I've been working on put out a complete banger of a pinset, but then I had to leave for awhile, and let the lab get too hot. Shelf was 82 when I found it, and the cake was warm as fuck to the touch, I imagine it was 85 plus. Half of them are blueing, pulled it down to 70, really hoping those don't commit to aborting. [Edit: nah, they're cooked. Press F to pay respects.]

Flying too close to the sun is the name of the fucking game for me this past few weeks.

Hopefully I start reading the room a little better.
