People just want to believe they didn't waste money and/or make a mistake.

Someone posts a million charts demonstrating how much worse something is and they will still debate about how it doesnt matter in their anecdotal experience it's still adequate for their needs because they've grown for three whole cycles and only had one tub contam and only 2 out of 20 plates.

3 whole cycles xD

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28716357

This was among my first grows march last year and have grown hella and many species in the meanwhile

Hooded I was talking generally about the trend of many new cultivators that come to shroomery, not just you. You at least said you intend to replace it; you've got a few other posters however who read your comments and are trying to go to bat for your poor methods.

But people in average have a really shit understanding of risk assessment, statistics and the nature of anecdotal evidence in general - many can't get past these illusion that just because you successfully grew shrooms by sheer dumb luck a certain way does not mean that method is ideal, good, or even "acceptable for their needs."

Basically, the people either dig their heels in and refuse to admit they've made a mistake, will argue with actual TCs about their fringe theories, or will desperately go digging for any scrap which can back up their own confirmation bias.

No worries bro, just figured Id share that to this thread because back then I wasnt much aware of threads as a whole. Still proud of that one and smth I may not do again at least to that scale since cubes are of little interest to me now. Happy growing everybody

Yeah, everyone needs to chill, if someone put out a tek using a box fan and air filter I’d get the ire but dude is using something and it’s working, I personally did practically the same thing for almost a year with zero issues compared to an SAB until I invested in a flow hood, yet here I am a TC, would I condone it or recommend ? No, but I sure as shit wouldn’t rub their face in it, sure, recommend better alternatives but there’s no need to be a dick about it.

I think the key is that "it" is doing nothing at all functionally. So telling new folks it's a good idea gives them a false sense of confidence and leads to endless topics about why things are failing all of a sudden.

It's one thing to do something wrongly for yourself; it is another to go into topics and try to push those methods or argue they are correct as some of the defenders were doing before. Or to dig your heels in, as some others do. You are a TC i presume because you did not dig your heels in whenever you made some mistake. You learned and you grew.

Its funny how mutants take over our line of sight and then a wild pheno sort of becomes novel again.

I used to keep snakes, and that's all about the morphs - weird mutations to the patterns and colors and whatnot. Then it became mixing them together so youve got multiple morphs being expressed simultaneously...you could probably see how it turned the snakes into fuggin Barbie Dolls for reptile nerds at that point. But yeah...suddenly catch an eyeful of a beautiful Peruvian Red Tail Boa as they are found in nature, and gawd damn...staring at morphs all day almost made me forget about you sexy mfs. 🤣

Pic tax - I stacked 2 shoebox subs after their 3rd or 4th flush and put them in a 15qt. Tbh, I dont even remember why I did it. Sometimes I drink too much coffee and just do things. I felt like I was looking at fish in the Bass Pro aquarium from this angle though...just neat.

I didn’t see him pushing it.
And frankly if I had to choose between an SAB and my old shitty air filter I’d choose the air filter, but no, like I said I wouldn’t promote it and the reason I never brought up things that the “shroomery” might find unconventional is because of backlash like above, the fact of the matter is that practically everyone does something unconventional or not recommended, especially TC’s 😂
But back to my point and above all else, stop being dicks about it,  simple as that.

on that third jar in second pic I can see a splotch of yellow metabolites, definitely questionable on that one but i've seen worse around here. Other ones look fine id say, just a lot of overlay.
