Man I’m so confused now
These are some of the plates that I inoculated but didn’t transfer from maybe this will give everyone a better idea of what it really is … now that I’m looking I think it is mold. Huge bummer but I’m still learning so I guess it comes with the territory

Thanks man.. just a bummer my first go around I got a nasty syringe and now some bad swabs or bad tek and not knowing which is what pisses me off lol. I’m just gonna go ahead and say bad spores because my plates come out clean and stayed clean so idk back to the lab it is…

Damn omar, that sucks. I'm bummed for ya. We were T1 brothers. Hope the best for your next try
:hugitout:

If it makes you feel better I've also had bad luck with a few of my first syringes

Haha thanks NFG and that’s crazy that’s exactly what my plates looked like, yellow nasty bacteria.

I got these swabs from someone on FB I have two more sets but now idk if I want to use them…

Luckily a tc on here sent me a care package so I have something else to work with.

Gonna pour some new plates tonight and I’ll be back with a report.

I just wish I had a better understanding of how it was supposed to look all these pictures I’ve been seeing just look so similar to my plates but again I’m so new idk what to even look for (obviously)

I think looking for organization is the important part. Like finding growth that is lining up with itself. Just as new as you are so maybe that's wrong.

This stuff looks puffy and disorganized, but light going through it shows the hyphae grouping together into lines instead of going in all random directions.

It bruises blue when transferring so I'm pretty sure it's the good stuff. But like derryld said, molds can be organized too so... maybe we'll be mold brothers soon lol

Is the top picture mold? Or are these good plates. To my eyes they look good

It looks like you've got something going there, but it needs to be transferred at least once.  It doesn't look very good in its current condition.

Making transfers from a Psilocybe Cyanescens germination plate to water agar.

The germination plate was inoculated using a pipette with spore solution made from a spore print. Each drop would contain approximately 20,500 spores.

Yeah planning to make some pasty plates this weekend, I'll probably transfer on Sunday.

I used a hemocytometer. Each corner grid had an average of 41 spores. Multiply that by 10,000 to get the number of spores per ml giving 410,000. A pipette drop is 0.05ml so divide by 20 to get the number of spores per drop giving 20,500.

Made some PDA and MEA agar plates, 87 plates in total. Read a lot about mycelium doesn't like red color, so I bought pink.. But it's still red 🍄
PDA isn't as translucent as MEA, at least not mine. Black and deep Green and Blue is my favorite because the mycelium really pops out. How do I get rid of the foam that is in the agar agar plates?

How long do you wait to inoculate fresh plates? When it’s cool or do you give it a week to see if they are contaminated? My last go around I just left them in my SAB let them cool and gel then I inoculated them the same day. I have a plate from over a month ago and it’s still clean. Just looking to see what everyone else is doing. Currently making more agar rn to overcome the huge L that was my second go around.

It depends on your confidence level pouring plates.

I trust my plates as soon as they are cool, others may not be so trusting.
