I did it. I have a couple of questions.

I shook up the spore syringe to break up the clumps as much as I could. Then I squeezed a drop onto my inoculation loop and dragged it across the agar. Is that all that is necessary? Does every drop of solution have spores in it, despite the clumping?

And I did not use the whole spore syringe. Can I reuse it? The spore syringe and the needle it came with have "single use only" and "do not (re)sterilize" printed on them. I didn't suck any air or anything into it and I put the cap back on the needle.

It's a medical or veterinary syringe repurposed for spores. The "single use only", "do not (re)sterilize" is printed by the medical manufacturer, it's telling junkies and third-world clinics not to use them over and over to inject drugs.

Yes, you can use again, if you mean you didn't use all the spore solution. If you used it all, grow some shrooms, take spore prints (plus learn to clone) and never bother with syringes again. It's caveman tek used by vendors to make several hundred dollars from one spore print.

You can't usually see spores in a syringe. They're too small. If you see something it's probably activated charcoal added to preserver and/or to look like SOMETHING to noobs.

Spore syringes are inherently non-sterile. You are learning to do agar, and to transfer away from contams. That's needed at least T1 with syringes, and usually even with prints.

Good way to shake a spore syringe is hold for 30 seconds against a power drill handle, a blender, or a vibrator.

And as someone said, flame sterilize needle each use.

Picax. Tried printing on a flame-sterilized cookie tray to get the shroom gills off the foil. I've heard it might make for cleaner spore prints. Will report results here.
