Needs to be fresh though, can't let too much urea turn into ammonia. It will be to volatile in the PC.

PSA : hot piss stinks. Please use good ventilation. In the military burning outhouse waste, or if you ever passed on a camp fire. It is bad, and will stink for a long time.

This may be a stupid question but can I use nutritional yeast in PDA? I’ve been doing pasty plates and have everything I need for PDA but seeing how beneficial NY is makes me want to give it a go. Does NY only work with certain agar recipes?

I add a little to my pda plates with no issue other than the specks it leaves in the agar. I was going to try to strain it to see if it clears it up a bit.

So no I'm trying some gourmets and I have a couple germ plates turning from blue to redish-orange. Any idea what it could be? I had these in the fridge to slow them down and it caused condensation. I have the pic of the front of the plate just to show what type of myc is in each plate.

Typically when I have any coloring in my dishes I'll see that over time the colors will change as the mycelium makes it way across the dish. Shouldn't be any cause for concern :thumbup:

If you have a way to close off the arm holes you can leave them for several hours or longer if need be. Ideally would want to negate any turbulence from entering the SAB after pouring.
You can wrap them right after they have all solidified and deal with a little condensation, or let them rest unwrapped.

Depends on your environment and the temperature of the poured agar. I lid them immediately after pouring, leave them sitting in 10 stacks overnight, then wrap and store in a box for two weeks. For your first pour patience will pay off in getting rid of condensation.

You will be able to use some plates almost immediately while the rest take the two weeks to clear up.

I have watched the videos, but have no idea how to get a transfer off the knife cleanly the first time. It's maddening to have a piece on the tip of the knife that simply will not come off cleanly!

this cloned Natalensis pin is giving me the prettiest myc I’ve ever had grow on agar. I gonna be so damned excited to take a couple transfers of the left side when this plate finishes growing out and I send the rest to WBS
