Thanks. OK.
"Please don't change the subject line." What do you mean by this?

EDIT: I think I got it. Hows that?

You changed the subject to "Contamination Prevention??" in your reply instead of leaving it alone as "Ask Quick Questions, Get Quick Answers" which is the subject of this thread.  DERRAYLD changed it back to the original subject in his post.

I don’t understand how we do that? I just do reply or quote and I’ve been told I’ve changed the subject line too?

I'm trying to do PF-Tec with long brown rice.

I bought this and I'm trying to grind it in a food processor.
It's a bit damp and soft.
Is this rice usable? How fine does it have to be?

This is the best I can get it ground unless I dry it out or something.
Will this work?

Can't really make flour out of hydrated rice

Just buy brown rice flour in the baking isle. I'm pretty sure they also sell bags of hard uncooked brown rice too. The bags of rice would be on a bottom shelf. Use the Walmart website and search per your store "in store only" it should give you the exact isle location.

If you can’t find brown rice flour, you can put uncooked brown rice through a blender until it’s a powder. It doesn’t even have to be flour-fine. I have done this many times and it works great.

I'm wondering how long after the veil breaks do the spores usually start falling? I'd like to obviously let the caps grow to printing size. If they do sporulate inside the FC, are they still able to be used for printing?

Shreddr1, this SKU should be at every walmart. You can grind this to make flour.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Natural-Brown-Long-Grain-Rice-32-oz/10898755?fulfillmentIntent=In-store&athbdg=L1200

As Rum said, you could put this into the app and it will locate the aisle of your particular store as well as nearby stock.

When you reply or quote, you can select which post you're replying to in the dropdown, and you are also able to edit the subject line at that time. It makes it disorienting when you're in a thread and the subject suddenly changes. I've thought I was on the wrong page a few times, for example. I think that's the rationale.

Hey, if I wanted to space my round stainless rack above the base of the PC could I use these?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N1RZWC4

I've seen people use 3 quarts below the rack and was curious would these work?

I'd basically use four of those small 8 ounce jars with top exposed, not covered so it would hold water in the water and then a rack then my grain bags then another rack on the grain bags...

Will they crack or be fine?

Thank you...

As long as you get your moisture right you could totally use that as the nutrition in cakes. Really I wouldn't even bother grinding it up, just mix at 1:2 with moist verm and call it a cake. I've used whole cooked rice and verm as cakes before...

I started with and have only done agar but I have a few syringes from my first spore order still, would be fun to run some BRF cakes and maybe get some nice clones from them while they're still viable. Is it 50/50 BRF/verm and a verm top layer from what I've read?

Some mushrooms break veil way earlier than the others, but I would like to harvest at one time, is it okay to let them sit and wait a few days until the others have caught up? Doing so would allow the mature mushrooms to sporulate on top of the cake, would that be a problem?
