Grains and why?

So basically it is a tie with red milo 1pt ahead!

:cookiemonster:

I didn't vote because they are both equal in my mind and it didn't feel right to choose.

You got me all confused now

In my country we work with liters, which I know is really close to a quart so usually not to hard to fallow...

But what is the difference between quart vs mycoquart please? I just always assumed a mycoquart was a 1 quart jar used for mycology (grain).

Hi, I think a mycoquart is just approximately 3/4 a quart so one can shake it when colonizing...

When I plan to fill unicorn bags I'll use actual quarts not mycoquarts...

Well a mycoquart is usually filled with grain to about the 600ml line so that ypu can still shake the jar. An actual quart is 946ml. So 9 jars with grain to the 600ml line would be 5.7 actual quarts. Mixed up with 12 actual quarts of prepared CV you basically get a true 1:2 ratio that makes a 4" thick sub in a 66qt tub before compression.

Using just 4-6 jars and double that of prepared CV to make a 1:2 ratio wouldn't even probably make a 2" thick sub. Forget about compaction it'd become paper thin.

Quick question #2:

Is syringing LC through injection ports really viable? It's always been my knowledge that they are a potential vector for contamination, pushing a needle through a sanitised surface. However, provided you flame hot this may kill anything left over, which is why people have success? I personally would have thought you'd have contam from it from time to time, but even YouTuber fresh from the farm does it for his LC and he's a very knowledgeable dude.

I use metal lids/full sfd's with long dispensing needles on 60 ml syringes. It's like a game of operation. No ship. Same lids as grain jars and everything else.

Thanks my dude, have thought about this option too - you got a link to the needles you use? Curious to see the size, and which size jar or media bottle are you using for your LC?

Was gonna try figure out one of these if not:

What in the actual fuck is this. And why not just pour. I suck at LC but when I use it I just pour it. Simple no extra steps or tools.

I do pour you presumptuous fuck. It's for extracting syringes perfectly sterile. I have several friends asking me for gourmet LC and grains, which is why I am considering this. A syringe attaches directly onto the end.

P9 uses them, mycosymbiote uses them, I could list a whole bunch of people that use them - all very very smart dudes.

Soon bb.

Actual quick question:

I made some LC broth two days ago. 1.6g malt extract to 400ml water. 15 minutes 15 psi. The water has a rosy hue and a couple of particles floating around in it. This is only my second time making broth*. Is this anything to worry about? Should I remake it?

Lmao is has been awhile since the last Shroomery orgy.

Still a lot I don't know in this work. Lots of things I've never done. Never written any teks either. There's definitely ppl here that'd deserve a TC tag before I should.

I know! I really missed out on the last one :facepalm3: by the time I got there, everyone was winding down... it was just a bunch of heavy petting and blunt-smoking :smoker:

A jar setup similar to that one can be used with an air pump to aerate LC.. and to draw up syringes like guerrilla said. I'll edit in a video that shows what I'm taking about.

Nvm, the setup is a bit different.. but it still seemed relevant

I like 4-6 qts in a 66 qt tub. That works out to one to two quarts for your 14 qt tub. No more than two, and two still being on the high side.

Do you mean actual quarts or mycoquarts(jars)?

That's where I'm lost at cause 4-6 jars of spawn and double that amount of CV for a true 1:2 ratio in a 66qt tub would make a paper thin sub depth and would have barely any water in it.

I'm guessing that when these teks say 1:2 ratio they just mean jars to actual quarts of CV. But even then 6 jars of spawn and 12 actual quarts of CV then compressed would be about a 2" deep sub in a 66qt tub.

Nothing wrong with skills and a variety of quality tools. By restricting your skill set and reserving your loyalty to an end all be all single method is very limiting.

Your post is not a question or answer, please stay on topic and keep any superiority complex issues to yourself. Not everybody is the same and valid useful methods are all still valid. Some people here literally blind or are missing limbs and try to make things work anyway. Personally I suck at pouring and make a mess doing it and have more contam issues. I'm epileptic though and shaky most of the time. I use tools to compensate.

Here is an example of satisfying your curiosity at the same time as not being condescending: "Have you considered just pouring your LC? It works very well for me and a lot of other people." See what I did there?

In my mind Guerrilla is as TC as it gets, and is an innovative and skilled person who helps a lot of people regularly.

quick question,

How many tools do you use for mycology?
