Out of curiosity, is TAT known for being really... really... really... slow?

Working from an LC syringe, it took 2 weeks longer to fully colonize its jar, and since spawning it hasn't even consolidated the coir yet while the other strains run along side it are spitting out primordia or pins already.

Even on Agar it is barely a fuzzy spec when the other plates I ran that day have damn near lawned up.

Technically speaking, you could PC the shit out of those jars (I would do at least 2.5 hours) and try again.

However, I would not risk it and I would start again.

The spots.. no..I mean it prolly has some mixed in. But that looks more like Good myc trying to take of but it's surrounded by mold.

the rest of the gray wispy stuff covering everything else is definitely mold

What species is it supposed to be?

TTBVI.  And I don't think the "whispy" stuff is mold, I think it's just not a clear picture but I could be wrong.

Yeah some pan mycelium will do that, looks fine for TTBVI.

Pale green water droplets on the cover of my tray...that can't be good.  What would cause that?

Honestly as someone who’s made and used gallons of LC I can’t recommend it for casual use. Unless you’re growing many pounds a month or working with a specific species that benefit from LC expansion, I can’t recommend it. Is definitely a higher skill set and if you’re looking for shortcuts in the shortcuts, I can’t see it working well long term. To repeat DV8DUG how are your agar skills? I would never inoculate any LC with anything other than clean agar wedges.

:whathesaid:

I think I said exactly this or somthing similar. A few weeks ago.

THANKS PASTY.

Also, ALWAYS.  always test a LC  before you use it.  no matter what.

No matter  where it comes. from no matter how verified and trustworthy you believe the source is. Even our approved vendors.

Someone on here recently told another meber that you should be able to trust LC from certain places and not worry about testing them. thats what they do.

This is inherently bad advice in general to be giving out. Especially for noobs to see and follow.

They also said to skip agar and just test on a small amount of grain.

Also bad advice.

We all know it can be extremely hard to tell if your grain is contaminated or not. Some people never learn.

The whole point is getting it on to the 2d media so that we can identify contamination way easier and get away from them appropriately if needed.

Sorry I should have asked about species. If those were cubes that would definitely be mold.

Got a set of jars fully colonized. No space available. Need to delay by two weeks minimally.

Do I put the jars in fridge with the unmodified lids all the way tight or keep that crack.

Tighten them so they don’t dry out

Personally I've not had a lot of success with putting things in the fridge with the exception of agar plates and LC. I find it just doesn't bounce back well. If you have a cool place like a root cellar or something that might be more ideal.

The old heads used to say to do a 2 week consolidation for pf tek, so personally I might go with them and just leave em in room temps. Should at least be very well consolidated at least.

Live in triple digit lands. lol. No cool place other than what the ac gets down too.

I do hear conflicting stories regarding the fridge  just not sure of/when I might pull it. Got one tub of ABV using Stipes tek that has 70% on top covered so I’m just waiting for that space.

Will do a test break and shake in a day or two to help stall it out but who knows.

Cause I’m guessing pinning is the one thing I’m trying to avoid?

Please don't take my words out of context and embarrass yourself.  What I said was, I like to shoot up a small jelly jar to test (not a fan of LC to agar), we all test differently, and I'm a successful cultivator (go check out my work at Topia... BRO), for YEARS so I do whatever I want (it's my fantasy).  I don't buy LC's to try and prove anything (I have in the past), and I'm in a rough state for cultivating mush, you don't know what it's like trying to get genetics, we take risks and WE all gamble doing this.  I have done plenty of agar drops (my own LC's), and still have problems, anything can contaminate dude, seeds, agar, it doesn't matter to me, I see it all the same.  If you can't see contamination in a tablespoon or two of seeds, that's your problem.  I don't like making plates in a SAB, it's cumbersome and takes time, wrapping them is a PITA, and if the LC is clean, I'm gtg to shoot more jars, and a G2G master to boot.  But shit, what do I know, I've only done over 300 woodie blocks from a trusted source, not once has Lenny sent a contamination syringe, amazing work, so... bro... I grow, you want to get all high and mighty about "testing" LC's with inferior equipment comparatively, have at it. I have YEARS of success doing what I do and don't need you spouting judgmental tones in my direction.  I don't consider 5 cents worth of seeds a loss, and we have different mindsets is all. I expect something to go wrong (guard up) you hope it doesn't, or have something to prove, I don't... and I have.

As others said the fridge isn't ideal. Species / Genus is also important. Every Panaeolus jar that I put aside for a long time performed very poorly or contamed straight away upon spawning. Subtropicalis or ingeli seemed to benefit from long consolidation times. I've used Ps cyan and azure jars that stood for months and months without noticing any difference.
