I notice in the water tub Tek the cakes are on a wire rack. Obviously the cakes can't walk on water. Has anyone tried a rack with a SGFC, instead of foil rounds?

Vendor had it labelled as A- but im not sure wtf it is to be honest as I've not managed to find a post speaking about any A-, and interesting bit about the colonies finding their own way to deal with the presence of other colonies.
Thanks for the reply Nichrome

I use the watertub setup, but instead of wire rack I use my extra perlite for things to sit on. I just keep a 2" layer of water at bottom. Just enough so the perlite doesn't float. :mushroom2:

I gave my perlite to my friend who grows weed. Best use of it I have found so far.

Any scenario that ends in more cannabis is probably a good idea 💡

All good, thank you for your thoughts ! I got 477.5 wet off of 1 myco quart millet. I probably shouldn’t expect much if any of a second flush eh?

Another third to a half as much if you pull it off.

Millet can be a very productive stuffs.

2nd flush might give you some bigger boys too!

Awesome good stuff thanks you both! That FP+ is gonna be a PITA…all small noodles less than 2 inches tall and not even as thick as a pencil. This yeti took me 2 hours to harvest and clean ffs. Can only imagine the FP+.

The fp+ fall off the sub when they’re mature.  I just grab em by the handful

This 16qt took me about 3 mins to pick

I dry em first and then stick them in a large ziplock and shake the shit out of them.  Cleans em really fast and easy

I notice your surface after flush looks barely touched, is that just FP+ that does that or other strains?

Also I'm going to get into 66qt tubs and some people say to use electric knife or cut them but am curiuos about the stubs left? Should we cut them as low as possible or just huge stub and when do we know when to rehydrate after we leave stubs etc? Is it always before second flush and how do you do it or sometimes wait till 3rd?

Someone kindly gave me a bunch of prints like:

Costa Rica
GT
FP+
Jedi
Taz
John Allen
Big Blue Meanies

And I'm in agar with Jedi but from the looks of it I will probably do FP+ next...

Thank you for any help,

Thanks for the tips! These little noodles are definitely potent from a small amount I got from top fruited jars.

There’s a few varieties I’ve worked with that fall off the sub when mature but PE is the big one and Fp+ is half PE.  Some varieties grab onto the sub like crazy.. Gandalf is one that comes to mind… it’s crazy how hard they are to pull off.. gotta cut those or you’ll pull half your surface off lol

So I'm getting it is not good to pull unless they barely mess with the sub!?

But cutting when necessary should be done as low as possible, cause I haven't seen a picture of when someone cut everything and what it looked like and did the myc just colonize and fruit over ithe stubbyness for 2nd flush?

Yeah cut when necessary and as close to the sub as possible but stumps are fine.. next flush just grows around them.  The stumps will start to fuzz up with myc.. normal

Thanks, I just need to learn how to rehydrate for 2nd flush and I'm set...

Some people I've heard they just pour a half gallon over the sub and wait 12+ hours then turn on side and drain!?

Since I’m here

Quote:
I’m a big fan of the heavy misting (point of pooling water) 2-3 days after a flush method.  Any pools left after the 3rd day gets soaked up with a paper towel.  This way you don’t have to mess with sub breakage and you can leave the liner on mostly intact.  Here’s some examples of 1st and second flushes with heavy misting

It gives you a lot of control and prevents the sub from being waterlogged; it’s easy to see when the sub stops absorbing water and it’s locked and loaded for the next flush

But you can also just add water to the sides of the tub like you said

I get it now, you rehydrate via super duper misting then soak up if it's too much...

Looks like I'm gonna use the fahtster mist tek since it has the features like no sub breakage or over hydrated/waterlogged...

Thanks again,

:sun:

Pardon me if this has been asked before, and I think I know the answer, but: What are the cook times for BRF/PF tek jars using either a water bath canner/double boiler, or a pressure cooker? I have seen wide ranging answers from both reputable users here, as well as books and other online resources, saying anywhere from 20-30 minutes at 15 psi, to 90+ minutes boiling at atmospheric pressure. If you could, please answer in the following format:

Sterilization times for BRF/PF tek
Pressure cooked @ [X]psi: min/ideal/max
Boiled (212°F/100°C @ 0 psi): min/ideal/max

The answers to your questions for both boiling and PC are available in this thread -> Updated PF Tek

According to the write-up I liked above, 90-120 min for boiling and 45-60 for PC @ 15 psi.

Does agar to grain usually take a little longer to get started? Growth looks healthy but it's been 8 days which seems slow. This is from a clone so could it just be genetics?

Are these safe?

I had to leave for a few days, these are penis envy. They went too long, lots of spore drops? turned quite black, veils broken, caps folded up. Do not look like the others which were harvested in the first flush from this cake.

I would suspect the cake is done?
