Not hard to see: the uncolonized grains pressed up against the bag/class are a dead giveaway :tongue2:

Quick question: Is this a mutation or a lack of FAE or something similar?

Lack of FAE, possibly also bacteria.

Just for piece of mind question, Picked up all my stuff yesterday for my first grow using PF Tek. Opened up the Verm and it is hugely course, like bigger than whole corn kernels. Any reason to not throw it in the blender to make it finer?  maybe the size of course salt grains you would put in a salt grinder?

Hope to noc 'em up tomorrow.

Anyone know why there is so little information about growing Claviceps purpurea available?

Is it because it's complicated to grow (Method of artificial cultivation of ergot) or would the extraction be the issue?

Grind it up however you can. Search for pics of grade 2 or 3 vermiculite and you'll get a good size comparison of what you want.

When working with a swab I have seen people suggest dipping it in sterile water. Quick question do I need to PC some water?

If you want to dip it, yes, you will need to sterilize the water.

As long as the spores aren't old and need rehydration, you should be fine swabbing without dipping..

What's the fruiting time on the YETI cubensis variant?

I'm playing with Faht's Ziploc® Tek (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27280275/fpart/all)with my own variations, and first time growing Yeti from a gifted culture.

I've been in Fruiting Conditions since August 26, 2022. Today is September 17, and I still don't even see the smallest knot yet. Is YETI really this slow? Great air exchange and humidity retention. Can provide pics if needed, but I feel like it's the culture itself. Might take the culture to a regular shoebox run to see if it's an issue with my Ziploc® setup..

Skip the water. Scalpel a deep X in the tip of the swab.... You'll see what to do next. A good swab can go a long ways.

Hey guys it's been 2 weeks roughly after inoculation, i've lost two jars to contams, some type of white-gray mold. Given that the contams didn't show after almost 10 days in, i want to think that they got through the dry verm layer during colonization. So i've been researching better filters.

My question is, given i can use both Tyvek (from suits) and polyfill, which one is better? (SFDs are unobtainable here).

Also, i already have standard 4 hole PF-tek jars and i'd rather not buy new ones, would it be fine if i make a big hole in the center for GE and put the filter there, and fill with silicone the 4 inoculation points?

Thank you. The blender worked pretty good but next time I'm gonna try to find finer verm.

My first yetis (presumably bacterial) took two months to fruit. Only one of the shoe boxes even did and it threw out a monster 156G fruit. I took a clone from that and now this shoe box was spawned on 8/31 and being harvested today full of nuggies. Give it even longer as long as it doesnt contam.

A- Spawn usually look kinda spikey? Happening in all my A- jars unsure if signs of contamination or just how it grows.
