I think I'll get some of these so thanks for sharing Rotn. The wood stain on my MDF finally gave in and started exposing some of the MDF. These monitor stands would definitely be much cleaner and last.

I will say though, you want your racks entirely in flow, you don't want anything from out of the flow reaching in.

I do pour you presumptuous fuck. It's for extracting syringes perfectly sterile. I have several friends asking me for gourmet LC and grains, which is why I am considering this. A syringe attaches directly onto the end.

P9 uses them, mycosymbiote uses them, I could list a whole bunch of people that use them - all very very smart dudes.

 I love you too Guerrilla.

Thanks.. I've made some adjustments to my setup since the picture,  so the right side is pushed over into the flow.. I'll  probably just remove the rack on the left and use it for something else.

The racks are really nice for keeping things clean... I'll usually just give the tops a quick spray/wipe with iso before I start working, and once a week I go through and do a deeper cleaning of my lab area where I take them all off and clean them and the table top.. I really should have gotten a hood and set up a designated work space sooner, it makes things so much better.

Your post is not a question or answer, please stay on topic and keep any superiority complex issues to yourself. Not everybody is the same and valid useful methods are all still valid. Some people here literally blind or are missing limbs and try to make things work anyway. Personally I suck at pouring and make a mess doing it and have more contam issues. I'm epileptic though and shaky most of the time. I use tools to compensate.

Here is an example of satisfying your curiosity at the same time as not being condescending: "Have you considered just pouring your LC? It works very well for me and a lot of other people." See what I did there?

In my mind Guerrilla is as TC as it gets, and is an innovative and skilled person who helps a lot of people regularly.

I got a screaming deal on a 2โ€™x1.5โ€™ flow hood. It was listed in excellent condition. After a little more inspection, the โ€˜grillโ€™ of the filter has a little unevenness. Damage, if you will? Is this going to affect my laminar flow. Itโ€™s in the lower left corner and not really in the sweet spot. Just curious..

So I just nocc'd some grain jars three days ago, RW, B+ and Ovoids on German Millet.

I shook them well when I nocc'd them and made sure the agar got distributed throughout the jar with at least one piece up against glass so I have some kind of reference to growth progress.

Anyway I have been pondering how those of you more experienced guage when to shake your jars? I've read the shake at 10%-50% colonized range and that leaves a pretty big gap.

Do you wait until you see growth of (X) amount/size before you decide to shake? I've seen several more experienced members say they would've shaken a couple times before others with jars at around 50%?

I know it's different for everyone and we all find what works for us. I saw visible growth from agar to grain within 24-36hrs at the points where I can see the agar wedges. So my jars are doing good so far. Seems it wouldn't hurt to give a shake once growth starts building up so much? Should make the jars colonize faster which is a good thing?

Yeah, I agree.. better safe than sorry.. I like knowing for a fact my blade is clean. since you're using a SAB, just use a cooling plate..

Working in front of a hood makes it a lot easier.. I just flame 3 blades and set them on a jar to cool while I unwrap the plates I'm transferring from/to and then start with the first blade I flamed, it gives it more than enough time to cool.

Thatโ€™s a sweet work surface, whereโ€™d you get it? Currently in the market for something similar.

If you do a search for "monitor stands" on Amazon, there are a bunch of options.

I'm pretty sure these are the ones I went with.. I got 4 of them (they come in sets of 2) and I took 2 of the legs off of the one on the end so it would fit on my table and give me a workspace across the whole length of my hood

All bacterial unfortunately dude. Your starting bag was bacterial, and you expanded that bacteria. Notice how thick they are, and the wet uncolonized grains pressed up among the myc behind them.

Normally you'd shake, but breaking up bacterial cultures can weaken the mycelial colony, giving bacteria the chance to outcompete it.

Most of the time when a bacterial jar fully colonises, you'll get fruits. It's just taking a chance. Many will suggest to top fruit the jars by adding a layer of coir, which is the least risk, but you do have a fair chance of getting at least 1 flush from spawning them.

Thanks much for the quick response!
To avoid this in the future, would I be better off using a spore syringe or liquid culture for my next jars?

Clean liquid culture or agar wedges. Spore solution should only be used with BRF cakes.

LC IF it's clean. You don't want to go MSS to grain.

With MSS you want to do this -> Updated PF Tek Guide

If your know your LC is clean, it's because you tested it on agar. If you can do agar, the following are good to go to grain: clean agar transfers (wedges or tiger drop) or the tested LC.

You are best off using any axenic live mycelium. Honestly although there are bacteria in those jars they look to me like you could give them a shake, let them colonize, and spawn them out. I suspect you get fruits just fine. Then you can clone the best fruits.

Learn to work with agar if you want a clean culture. It takes some practice but it is not to hard, there are plenty of teks and recipes and it is what 99% of cultivators use to get from spore/tissue to clean cultures. Spores are never clean. You could whip up some agar today and pull a colonized grain from one of those jars and have a clean culture in a week or so, definitely before you see fruits.

You can pull off agar work with very minimal materials.

I'm offering up a pack of 10 spore prints (of my choosing, all cool stuff) for whoever posts the first complete grow, starting with agar work that was done in ziplock (any zipper baggies/bags) bags with a length of wire coat hanger OR a piece of copper electrical wire with a crudely forged or bent or fashioned end, as the only hand tool in the process. This is international and available to anybody who has free use of the mktplace.

Has to be a clean grow with no green shit or puddles. This is in the mktplace now please participate there. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27954802

I would go with a clean LC or agar wedge.

Man that is hard to see for me, unless you look really closely, nice catch...

I also notice the milky off whit'ish stuff but the uncolonized seeds are a clue too...
