There’s only one thing I hate about picking, the grubs who take from nature and leave this behind.
Grinds my gears. Pick up after yourself if you’re down SW way.
Also included are the reasons I love it!
(Yes I picked them up 🤙🏼)

Some awesome finds coming through the Victoria thread:cool:
Congratulations on the P.tasmaniana Nickoloxious! They're gorgeous. Not too many finds for this species in Victoria.

Thanks bob!
There maybe also an element of people picking them thinking they're subs. Can imagine I've likely done it in the past. But yeah, I don't think they're as common.

Had a look at some of my spots yesterday, didn't see a single sub. Either the season is late here or others beat me to it and cleaned out the area.

Beautilful day out in the forest yesterday. We moved in December to western VIC and found some great patches only 5 min walk from our home. 4 long years looking in the wrong places, I have now answered the long time question of "if i pass by one, would I recognise it's a sub?".... yes, indeed I would. The big one in the middle was 10g (not dried obvs). Happy hunting folks

What’s the species in the first photo? They don’t look right at all but I’m sure you’ve noticed and that’s why they’re separated. Have you made an ID request?

EDIT
Saw your ID request 👍

Hey Folks, been hiding in the shadows last couple years, thought I might come out of hiding and say hello to all the lovely people on here.

Seasons going really well for me got a little over 300g dry from suburban Melbourne. My spot is seeming to die down now, so I've gotta go out hunting again for a new one, although I've definitely got enough for me and some friends.

Good luck out there, happy hunting and tripping.

When is it worth revisiting a spot you've picked? Aka how long does it take for mushrooms to regrow if you cut them?

This really depends on the amount of moisture, residue, rainfall and temperature range that the patch mushrooms have.
If your recently picked patch has been dry since your last visit, unfortunately you can't expect the mycellium to grow through the necessary life stages and develop into a pickable mature mushrooms indefinetely.

If however you didn't over harvest, leave pins/non-mature or fully grown subs and of course use scissors to cut at the very base of the stem not destroying the health of the patch.. then with rainfall of say 2mm-10mm, or minimum temps of ideally 4-6 degrees C allowing residue and moisture to enable the growth process (as well as max temps ideally below 18 deg) in my few years of experience I can return in as little as 3-5 days to collect more.

Hope it gives some idea, this is simply an answer based on my experience and reading and no more. Best of luck and always remember to look after your patch and don't over pick and keep it healthy and alive!

A few of the finds after the rain the other day in a State Park North East Melbourne. Absolutely thrilled! Finding them in State Parks is always especially rewarding

Hey all! What are these defined blue/green marks? I'm hesitating to say it's normal bruising because the edges of the markings are quite sharp. I thought it may be herbicide (they were in a public garden), but the surrounding ground wasn't tinted, and neither were any of the leratiomyces which were growing amongst them. Advice please?

I've found that inclement weather can cause bruising like this
