As much as I despise Trump and believe that his call to violence is not protected speech, it has to be said that some of these social media companies are up to shenanigans with how they chose to enforce the rules that they have created.


See, on one level I have a problem with the curtailing of free speech. Personally, I don't think that banning violent speech prevents violence, it only forces violence to get more sophisticated. For example, suicide bombings. Suicide bombings are the tactically correct response to an overwhelming military force. Japanese kamikazes were, statistically, almost twice as effective as regular Japanese bombers when it came to sinking allied ships. Took an average of 84 kamikazes lost per ship sunk, versus 120 Japanese bombers lost before they adopted kamikaze tactics.

Similarly, overwhelming US force in Iraq/Afghanistan forced ISIS to use commercial drones with hand grenades strapped to them instead of open combat.

On the other hand, there is some schadenfreude involved with republicans being all about preventing regulations and upholding the free market, only for those lack of regulations and free markets to decide republicans are bad for business.

The entire current situation was created by republicans, and I don;t really care when they suffer from it. People like me warned them and they did it anyway. C'est la vie.

They banned accounts that were openly fomenting sedition and insurrection. People were using those accounts to actively organize what happened on Wednesday. Parler is being used to organize riots and further violence, and that’s why the app has been banned from app stores

Like I said, I'm ok with banning speech that actively incites violence (though Kryptos makes a good point about this).

Does anyone have an example of a Trump tweet inciting violence?

If they're a monopoly, which they pretty much are, then yes.  And as has already been mentioned, I can't get parler from the Google Store anymore.

That's the first time I've heard that a discussion board is a direct competitor to Twitter.  Trump was also banned from Facebook.

Again, I'm ok with censoring calls to violence, but does anyone have any examples of Trump actually doing this?
