Pic 1 I can't really see much

Pic 2 Looks kind of weird to me...

Pic 3 looks good, I'd let it grow out maybe a day or two more then take to a few new plates. Take it from the edge, rhyzomorphic and tomentose doesn't matter. If the tomentose part is a contam then you will get it regardless, but if you take it from the edge you can avoid other contams that are slower than the myc.

Pic 4 I can't see much either

Pic 5,6, and 7 is mold yes

1 2 3 and 4 look fine. The last three are contams. Which ones did you use on each plate?

Let them grow out more. Tomatose(fluffy) growth is fine but once it starts growing nice rhizo then cut and transfer. I have a tendency to over grow my plate but when it's about 20c or 50c piece sized that's a good time to do it.

I've learnt not to use flash when taking photos of petris. Just use a well lit room and have a contrasting background to the myc and agar colour.

For the life of me I couldn't get the photos to work. I just read an article about 6500k light or something. I'll work on it.

3 & 4 b+
6 7 8 were the wild subs I gathered and had the trouble with the prints
1 & 2 cubes

I asked a microbiologist what rhizom.. growth was and she never had heard the term. Still doing my research into these terms.

Thanks for the info guys I'll get rid of the mold to not contaminate anything else and growth the others for a few more days.

Hi and welcome to the Shroomery

I would be careful importing spores, as they are illegal here. Chances are you will get them through, but there are definitely cases of people getting raided after getting spores shipped internationally.

You should try to get them domestically, or if you want to practice your agar cleaning, recover some from some desiccated flesh.

Are they illegal? I thought it was more complex than that, and they were only illegal with proven intent to use them to grow. I might be wrong tho, if anyone knows legals tuff better than i do I'd love to find the actual law that governs this.

What are you guys doing with your tubs after they get trich or other contaims clean and re use? I heard trich spores can get into the air of your grown room or house and cause trouble.

Also what can be done after taking a good section off the first agar plate and transferring to the second? Let it grow out more and take other transfer. Throw it away. Slow it down in the fridge. Wait for it to grow pins?

Bleach clean outside then clean again. And once more for good luck.
Don't open in your grow area. I'm about to bulk some cakes but I'm thinking of cleaning and moving my grow area first.

If the second plate is good use but still transfer the first bit to another plate. I've got some nice pins from left over plates that i transferred from and didnt use the left over agar.

How is everyone's grows coming along?

The board has been a little quiet of late. I know I've been crazy busy lately which is why i haven't got much going.

I have some mazatepec in pf jars that are going to bulk when i get a day off.

My azzies haven't fruited yet. But at least there's no signs of contam. I'm hoping the rain over the last two days will help conditions.

Keen to see what everyone else has going.

Hi all, new to this forum. Trying to get into agar work in Aus.
Having trouble finding suitable PP5 containers from the no pour Teks, here in Aus.
Any suggestions for containers that Aussies are using?

Also wondering if there's anyone that sells flow hoods in Australia.

I'm not familiar with no pour or PP5 containers.

Update on my grows I've got loads of dishes going got some subs, b+, cubes, and T.O.C some up to 4 transfers done some starting to look really good just a scramble photo of them

Some of these transfer were done on the weekend. They're looking better and better each time.

I haven't put anything to grain I've got 10 Jars cleaned and ready waiting to go. I've been thinking about using some sectors of one of these as they look clean and uniform growth they're only a second transfer but want to do something during this lockdown if anyone has thoughts on that?

Got some good growth on my 2nd agar transfer of P. Subs from a non-sterile spore print. Got some really good growth showing on these 3 plates.

Very nice plates tyg. Should be good to go into grain soon. Any idea what kind you plan on using?

Can you put Subaeruginosa to grain? I would have thought wood chips

You can start with grain then bulk to wood.
I grew azzies on wbs and the myc took to it really well.

I was thinking i'll put them to oats first, did a spore syringe a while ago and put to oats, and it has gone quite well. Gonna try a few experiments with these guys with different mediums, see what works best.

Psilocybe Subaeruginosa grown from unsterile spore prints. Made up a spore syringe and put to grain on 28/6. These are large jars so it has taken a while for good colonisation, but keeping them in a room indoors with no heating which remains fairly cool, reaching around 8 degrees overnight, and 20 during the day at the moment.
Almost ready to put to bulk so going to start a grow log and trial some different methods to see what works best.

I wouldn't worry about keeping them too cool, I have grown mine on chips indoors at a constant 25C and the half-pint jars usually take a little under a month for full colonisation without issue. It's cool that they don't seem to care about the big swings though...

I'll have to give grains a try for subs... Has anyone done the elusive indoor grow of subs, or just throw them to an outdoor patch like I do?

I think these are full pint jars, so expected slow growth, but tbh, from the rough spores i was sent with no protection i was surprised to get anything, but have some good strong rhizomorphic growth.

I will be attempting an indoor grow i think, i had another jar which got contams, so took out the good myc and put it to cardboard, and some wood pellet kitty litter which i soaked and sterilised, so will see how they go in that first.

Other than those vague ideas, i have no real plans for these yet as i honestly didn't expect such a good result so quickly. So it will be a bunch of experiments. I still have sheets worth of prints from them left, so may even do a giveaway.
