Yes. I have way too much micropore tape because I thought I'd be doing pf tek for lyfe! I'm using it simply because I have it in excess, and no problems yet.

I personally haven't used agar condoms in a while. I go in raw. So far contams are none to very low

Allow the plates to set up (in the SAB) before wrapping them... MP works, but it's a bit of a PITA to get back into...

So I just did some transfers and did transferred the nicest piece onto a pasty plate That came out ALL WATERY  like the agar didn’t get stiff it’s just goop. I wonder what it will do. I almost threw it out and restarted but luckily had more plates with growth. Keeping the goopy one around. Just to see.

It'll colonize... don't move it around a bunch so the culture will stay on the surface... you'll be able to spot any contaminants much quicker... I do my agar with only 3.5g agar to 500ml of water... almost an LC

How do u transfer when it’s so goopy ? I thought it was basically LC it’s so watery.
It’s the first transfer from a wild p.cyan print.
If anything crazy happens I’ll post pictures.

I always try to make my agar on the stiff side it’s easier to get a nice wedge out
But I’m glad I didn’t toss the plate. Hopefully it works out

Doing up some new no pours these look fine and will  I have to use foil when I cook beings the fact my hole is on the side?





Only 1 that worked out was my RW from McGee. 2nd transfer bacteria and mold.




I'm gonna take 2 cuts from this plate tomorrow. Then I'm transfer to agar to brf. Then back to tiger drop plates one for every oat jar u plan to take over the world with.

No foil needed for sidemount GE ports... is split plates to 2 jars: just as fast, 1/2 the culture work

So... I am noticing that at about the 1 month point that my agar goes color-less on plates.

Pet theory: The myc eats all the sugars from the food coloring
Likely theory: it just fades from light exposure.

Anyone know for sure?

my belief is the fungus eats it. i noticed the color disappearing when i first started using food color. it always seems to go clear from the center out. since i store my plates stacked, light would tend to fade them from the outsides in.

Both perhaps? It's food grade so I don't suspect it to be extremely stable

Second attempt at agar ever and I finally have something with a spore syringe from 2009. Need to work on getting it in the middle next time but oh well. Also not a good photo either, will have a better one in a couple days. Going to attempt my first ever transfer in a couple of days too hopefully.
