There are dozens of other ways of describing a constitutional government, few of which are as concise.

I have no objection to Aristotle's definition, I am just curious to understand what Aristotle felt was subsumed by the concept of "ruling".

If you do reach a different conclusion (about what, by the way?) I would like to see it.

I would have to check Aristotle directly to understand his thought on this matter. Thanks for not offering a lengthy tome on the varieties of constitutional government.

What do you think the phrase "to rule" means?

And what, in your opinion, constitutes anarchy?

To possess the authority to order others to do stuff and not to do stuff.

And what, in your opinion, constitutes anarchy?

The absence of codified, objective law governing interaction between humans and/or the absence of an institutionalized mechanism by which such law is to be enforced.

1. if it's not ok for the government to take my money to feed starving people in my own country, why is it ok for them to take my money to free an oppressed people half way around the world?

2. when there are innocent people dying of cold and starvation on the streets because they are unable to find work, does this constitute an "emergency situation"?

3. are the recipients of welfare it's only beneficiaries?

1) Oppressed people may never morally (or "justly" if you prefer) be freed by other countries if it requires the seizure of the belongings of others to fund the effort. This is why I have pointed out on numerous occasions in the past the immorality of the US's invasion of Hitler's Europe.

2) No.

As an aside, can you point us to the most recent verifiable case of someone who was trying to find work in the US dying of starvation in the street?

3) Yes. And in many cases, it's arguable that even the recipient truly "benefits".

then you should be against all moral wars and all moral justifications for war (unless it's privately funded).

no. because we do have a thing called welfare. even in the most desperate times, like the great depression, the government provided for food and shelter and we didn't have people dying on the streets like they have in third world countries. call me crazy but I think this is a good thing.
