Oh wow that's super cheap! Would be totally profitable to be able to churn those bitches out, they're cheap enough to make and I'm sure enough people would rather pay ~50 than 1-400 what the real ones cost.

Well yea dude it depends what you need them for. Like all I need it to do is mix LCs, the seller gears them to home brewers for something with yeast?

The higher quality lab ones are hot plates too and can do things that are really cool (I forget what?)  but its features that most of us really dont need

I have one speed.. Fast..
The whirlpool with the biggest magnet dip down to the bottom of the jar.

With smaller magnets I get less  action.. The cultures don't seemed to mind it.

I stir 2 jars at 12 hours on and 12 hours off..

I could add a 35 ohm pot with a heat sink but not necessary..

When removing the magnet from the piece of metal its mounted to can be a little tricky.

If you try to pry it up It could snap in two and it doesn't slide off very easily.

I put a crown in the metal mount by bending the metal with two pliers. The magnet then slid off fairly easy..

Hey camplo..

Every time I go to the feed store to buy ten kilos of oats I always buy ten syringes and number 16 needles.

In Mexico syringes and needles are dirt cheap..

I set out to prove to myself that lc's can be produce with a high degree of contaminates free.

This is only a hobby to me, and I am quite convince that most lc fails are from improper sterilization of the needle or the syringe...  This is the reason I use only new syringes and needles..

The fun of this hobby is to achieve new challenges and to advance to new  levels.

What made you think it was improper sterilization of syringes? Any deficiency in the sterilizing of tools in the PC can be remedied by pcing longer I'd say. I'd only be worried about keeping it sterile. I think you are being over precautious, so if your goal is low contam rate... you should make it.

I don't do any of that stuff lol. My lids are just lid rings and easy felt disc's. Only contamed LC's I've had this year have been from not sterilizing long enough.

I would imagine most failed LCs are from using a spore print or syringe as a source. It only takes one contaminant spore to ruin a liquid culture. A single contaminant could ruin a jar of grain as well, but there's a significantly less chance of that happening due to the rate of expansion.

Thanks Camplo your absolutely right. I'm over precautious.

I should spend more time on getting my sterilization dialed in....

It doesn't bother me that much to loose a jar at the beginning of a lc. What I don't like is to loose a jar after Its been tested and proven to be contaminate free...

Which is why I lean towards making many jars of smaller quantities. I haven't quite made the leap all the way back but I used to do LC's in baby food jar,. once the jar is opened all contents fit into syringe and its all gone, not to be revisited.

lately I've been doing about 300ml in quart jars. I get to use my fancy blender top I made. Making multiple Lc's is where its at. By the time you use one up the older one is super thick.

I just bought the cheaper version of that.  Some off brand that was close to half the price and I payed $70 and the  foodsaver brand one was $120 CAD.

How badly does it crush the dried shrooms when you put them in there?

The local Walmart had that one ( the fm2000) for 65$. Came with an 11" x 10' roll and a few pre cut bags. It doesn't break them up real bad, doesn't turn them all into chips and shake.opened one bag back up that still had several whole mushrooms in it but it does break some. I haven't tried it but you could probably start the vacuum process, hit cancel before they are smashed then hit the seal button to smash them less.
