i have no problem with certain social programs and anti poverty spending. However that has nothing to do with being anti capitalism.

well economically i'm a proud capitalist, i think allowing voluntary free treed is paramount to a free society. And i believe the government should be as small as possible while protecting our rights, i completely agree with the government funding police, fire departments, etc. And i am fine with social programs to an extent. I believe our country should have a much greater emphasis on self responsibility however, and taking ownership for your actions.

What about food safety and environment protection? No doubt that there are environmentally friendly companies, but who is going to stop the bad apples from polluting rivers and dumping toxic waste?

Have you ever heard of a class action lawsuit?  You really need to learn some things.  Dow Chemical floods a whole town with shit and the whole town pools it's resources to hire, wait for it, lawyers.  The Dow chemical loses the suit  has to pay damages and also the legal fees for the plaintiff. 

Do you know who it is almost impossible to sue?  The government.
