A good psychedelic wipe, unfortunately still feel the damage
    #16731749 -

Last night was a real challenge. I had a good mid-range but the last (longer) segment was very harsh. The thoughts are covering the same path, and I can't seem to reconcile them: Life is largely domination, and I don't like that, but when I get myself alone the dominance aspects will be  my own mind.

I don't know, trips like this always make me want to go vegan. It really does a number on me. I'd really like to believe in an Enlightenment, but it seems so impossible to me. The Buddha's words resonate on a strong level, but talk about Enlightenment seems like a far-away fantasy.

I don't know what it's like in other people's minds, but I know mine is very much in pain most of the time. It seems whatever path I take, the pain is the same, but Buddhism does a pretty good job at addressing the causes. Oh well, I've been neglecting the practice aspect, and hopefully I can generate some positive intent.

Happy Monday, everybody.

I agree that enlightenment seems out of the question.  However I think that being awakened might be a possibility. Of course an awakening is hardly a ticket to happiness. In fact often the opposite and what I think  you may be dealing with when you are alone.  For myself  thinking about what seemed to be true via evidence, my supposed logical thinking and intuition is/was about as difficult as any bad trip ever was only much longer. Years longer.

I've had a long life relative to most here and the only conclusion I've reached is that nothing is going to get fixed, all  arrangements with oneself are temporary and will change right when you think you got it down. A practice can help but not cure. A practice will fall apart over and over and over so get used to that.  Try to have fun whenever and however you can and quit judging yourself negatively on how you go about that. And finally it's all going to come to the same end and we're all in that same boat.

Good luck and be careful out there.

This one is the hardest part. I have no compassion for myself.

Good luck and be careful out there.

I genuinely wish the same for you and anyone else reading this (and everyone that isn't.

Often when we are faced with things we see as issues in life, we tie ourselves into knots trying to resolve them, whatever they are. We tell ourselves that if we resolve it, there is light and clarity on the other side.

Sometimes I've found the most peace in halting my attempts to resolve things, and just accept things as they are. For me, more often than not, it's the ceaseless attempts to resolve and fix the way I view things that leads to there being these unresolved things.

Just accepting the current moment, and letting all those efforts rest leads to a quiet place in mind. I've learned that a lot of the things which caused me turmoil in the past, were just creations and re-creations of my own doing.

Trying to be serene, is like trying to grab water.

This made a lot of sense. Thank you for the kind, thoughtful words.

The wipe was harsh but today I'm finally releasing some of the tension.

I notice it most when I am laying in bed to fall asleep at night. I will be laying in bed and a negative thought will just pop out of no where - something that is self-judging or demeaning.

I think it truly is about the practice. The practice is the hard part. I'd reckon the vast majority of people are hardly conscious of their thoughts and how they allow them to influence how they feel and how they experience reality. Meditation is going into that dark unconscious and bringing it to the surface, so we can deal with it.

Reintegration after a trip can definitely be difficult sometimes. I hope you find a practice of some kind that eases your pain. That practice could be anything from an opiate addiction to a common spiritual path.

I'd say though that I think Enlightenment does exist, but then again, our definitions might differ. My definition of Enlightenment is freedom from attachment. I think when people think of Enlightenment, they tend to think that it's some exalted state of pure religious ecstasy. When I hear that definition, I just hear a really strong attachment to feeling good and wanting to just shun the world away. To me, Enlightenment would be not clinging to suffering or ecstasy, but naturally letting them flow freely through you and flowing with life without resistance. Of course it's easier said than done, but I do think it's possible.

Just my 2 cents. :sun: Thanks for sharing.

Edit: I just saw a terrible typo an had to fix it.

Thanks for all the support guys.

Rock, I believe one can alter their mind to find that peace in this life, what I don't believe in is the Buddha realm, an end of the cycles, and eternal freedom. The former what I'm trying to achieve with Buddhism. Hopefully I'll find some peace of mind with meditation and the upcoming school year, we'll see.

Well, I slept for a good four hours, which helped a lot. I'm going back to baseline, and I feel a lot better.

Whats the Buddha realm?

So you believe in no end to suffering? I don't think I could be happy in this life knowing I would be eternally bound to suffering.

Your bets as good as mine. I've heard some allusions to it, but I haven't read any direct words from the Buddha on it so it so it might just be religious addition. Sounds kind of like Christian heaven.

 I'd love to believe otherwise, but it seems the more realistic option. I think some people out there are genuinely happy, and good for them.

Nothing wrong with going vegan, I know a few of those types and they're at least as healthy as anyone else. Just do what you can though, it take a lot of time and effort to do it right and if you're not ready for that maybe some middle ground might be good? Just cutting back on meat and dairy intake while increasing veggies/fruit.

I think enlightenment in terms of breaking all attachments is possible in some circumstances but not necessarily a realistic goal for most. I also think there is degrees of in between though where we can drop some of our attachments and live with some less suffering :sun:

Hope you have some nice afterglow coming up  :psychsplit:
