Would this be the same question as: does god exist?

Well, some thoughts I have about it are: maybe it is both - there is a god but there is only one version and there is a number of wrong versions of god that we created that are correct in some respects but not others. Maybe none of us could ever know what the real god is like because divine knowledge is filtered through our subjective mind. Or maybe we are all right because believing god is something makes him/her so. Or maybe god is the sum collection of all our visions.

God is different in everyones mind. And there are many gods, infact you can make a god for everything you want. For example a sun god, a moon god, a tree god or even a god of porn. That is what is so great, you can create your own image of god, it doesn't have to be the same as someone elses god, but it can.

In my opinion it was created by humanity. As a filling for the unexplainable gap question: why do we excist.

The question of the existence of God is something that's been going on for so long.
Simply because in the eyes of people, there is no solid evidence that God does or doesn't exist.

Gods the simplest way to explain existence, humans like simplicity, we created god. People who don't believe in evolution need to look around, see all the similarities in different animals that evolved for specific tasks, lifes an amazing extrodinarily complex thing.

God isn't something outside you. God is deep inside you. God is who you truly are. And you create the universe with every beat of your heart and every breath you take.
I reccommend reading/listening to "Self and Other" by Allan Watts.

God created us to see who would choose eternal love, and who would reject it.

Oh? Then why did god creat dogs and fish and spiders and so on?
I think life is just the universe trying to become sentient, to see itself. To form a conciousness capable of recieving all available information and making sense of it. The closest thing to becoming the final product of the universe, that we know of, is human. Unfortunately I dont think we'll make it, we came close but we have been drifting away for the past few thousand years. I think we are de-evolving now, hense the false beliefs. Some percentage of the population seems to get smarter while others(most of america or the world) seem to be average or ignorant. With so many bad genetics going around it's going to be hard to evolve further, that and we are using up all of our resources and polluting our environment. I think the gene pool could use some detergent.

I think it's all just physics and chemistry
Yeah I also believe that humans are de-evolving, or that human evolution has stopped. But I don't believe that to be a very big problem. We have become smart enough to be able do understand and alter genetics to a degree. So I think that in a couple of decades humans will be able to 'evolve' themselves at will.

Oh? Then why did god creat dogs and fish and spiders and so on? Do you really have to ask yourself that question? Dogs, fish, spiders, and the like are a bonus in the big soup of life that is submission to God. Humans on the other hand are special creatures, because they have free will. God is a reality, and God is a burning, eternal love for those who are in submission willfully, or unwillfully. Cats, dogs, and spiders are too stupid and innocent to make a willful attempt to reject God. They are forever humble.

I've thought the same thing cybrbeast, humans will not evolve in countries like america cause you really don't need to have any skill to survive. We can fight off nearly all diseases and colds through medicine, its not like the strongest survive, only the incredibly weak die.
But we will be evolving un-naturally through genetics in the future, I think we will be able to create different life and enhance human life once the genome project is done. Around 99% of our DNA is inactive, and by reading this we will understand exactly where we came from.

Mapping the genome is only a first step. After this we will need to find out all the specific functions of every gene. When this is done, we can start altering specific genes to enhance life. Ofcourse the public opinion and knowledge must be changed in order to get support for these technologies. So we still have a long way to go.

Ya i know that its only the first step, just like you have to learn the alphabet, then you have to learn how to spell words and what those mean before you can write anything of any meaning.

probably a little bit of both... in terms of most popular beliefs, probably a lot more of one or the other.
