Genius and talent, is nothing but hard work.

People who are lazy and jealous think it's "natural talent", it's "genetic". And will actually give people who are hard working a harder time, just because they are lucky with their talents.

Sometimes I think people fake their stupidity just for the sake of being a lazy motherfucker. They pretend they don't know this and that, so they wouldn't have to do anything about this and that.  People decide to believe intelligence is genetic, just for the sake of being able to be stupid and lose all responsibility.  Everyone is as intelligent as the other. Stupid people are simply the people who pretend to be stupid to avoid working. But they have pretended this for such a long time that they simply forgot.

All babies can learn 3 languages simultanously at birth. Face it, humans are naturally geniuses. Society turns us stupid. The only reason people deny their intelligence is because of the responsibility that comes with it. People are spoiled lazy mother fuckers who will bring the world down with them just for the purpose of being lazy.

Example: who's going to fix this?
Lazy people: I can't, I'm stupid.
Not lazy people: Sure, I'll give it a try, in the process I'll get smarter anyway.

Although I think most humans are capable of more than what they acheive, I do not think that genius is a matter of hard work.

It is more a matter of environment, and how a person is taught, and also how much they use their imagination.

I think genius simply refers to the case when someone is able to overcome socially-bound assumptions that prevent everyone from seeing 'the next part of the puzzle'. Geniuses are not that special, they just happen to be free of the limitations that society teaches everyone.

Why does society teach itself limitations? It is a matter of efficiency. Although there are many possibilities in the world, there is only so much time, and in order to teach people the most effective/useful/functional information, you need to teach them heuristics of thought. these heuristics are not perfect tools but rather are statistically superior to other easily-taught paradigms.

If everyone was given the opportunity to be a genius, then not much would get done.

Because there are plenty of geniuses who never work out how to share their insight with the rest of the world. Most geniuses are told that they are crazy and probably lose hope.

But I totally agree that plenty of people are lazy and prevent themselves from learning more than they need to. I think this stems from the fact that people are forced to learn things at school and thus they develop resistance, and form the idea in their heads that 'I am The Man's bitch if I spend too much effort trying to understand things'

I think talent isn't just hard work, but the inclination to work hard at something.  Lots of kids could be taught to play piano, but only a prodigy would want to spend all their free time practicing.

Yeah very good point, I guess without passion there wouldn't be 'hard work', well if you're passionate about something it's not really work anyway.

I dont think its always that way, things rarely are so cut and dry.  Some genius is a product of intense hard work and inclination - others just exude it with little effort or want at all.

I have gone over this in my head before.

I have nothing against women, but have you noticed how a majority of them can't carry on an intelligent conversation?

I think it is because they are so obsessed with how they look in other peoples eyes. They think that guys want the ditsy pretty girl that has trouble doing any kind of task by themselves. They act like they can't do school work and choose not to understand it for so long that they actually begin to not understand.

This is not only women. I had a close friend named nick that this happened to. In 6Th grade he was one of the smartest kids I had ever met. But he noticed when he acted dumb people thought it was funny. He kept on this false persona for so long that he actually became dumb. He now struggles with basic math, has trouble spelling anything other than his name, and never graduated high school and probably never will.

I have had many people become frustrated and hostile towards me just because I do not speak the way they do.

They find it confrontational and haughty to aspire to be creative in my use of language, that I should see the recycled catch phrases and anecdotal use of our language as disgusting.

Many seem to have it in their minds that if I should use words in a concise and exacting manner, that I am somehow trying to tell them that they are inferior.

I find the reverse to be true in spades. Take the Shroomery as an example. Few women would respect the level of conversation that goes on here as a whole.

Ever thought it's the kind of women who are hanging around you and not women in general?

I have a friend in your situation. He sees nothing wrong in what he does. He doesn't understand why people get pissed. But he is constantly correcting people, whether it's their grammar, or just something they are talking about. It is very annoying and it is hard to spend more than 3 hours with him without getting pissed. He always talks down to people but he doesn't realize it.

I fully recognize the irritation that can cause.
Though, it does not apply to me.
I correct no-one.

I have been told I "don't know how to get to that what-the-fuck level", or as another had said, "you use your words too much."

(although he was not saying that I speak too often, but rather I say too much when I do choose to speak.)

I see the same in most men to an equal degree at least. I think you certainly do have something against women.

I wasn't saying you did. I said all that to let you know you can be insulting to people without realizing it. I recorded him one night and let him listen to it and that is when he realized how much he sounded like a dick.

Often when I travel, people tell me "Oh, you're so lucky, you can travel!"  I find this annoying because it's not luck, I work, save some money, think creatively about how to stretch out a buck...  I say, "No, it's not luck."
Because I learned to speak French & Spanish, people say "Oh , you're so lucky that you know other languages."  Um, no, that was putting myself out there and learning.
When I snowboard, people say "Oh, you're so lucky!"  It's not luck.
When people see my artwork, they say "Oh, you're so lucky to have talent."  It's not luck, I started drawing and painting as a child and never stopped.  Anyone can practice drawing and painting.  It's not luck.
It takes time, practice and work to develop skills.
And in terms of intelligence, I think we can cultivate that too with what we put INTO ourselves in terms of food and media and ... drugs.  We can make ourselves more intelligent or more stupid.  I know that cannabis in moderate use makes me think on a more advanced level.  Mushrooms too, and LSA.  But overdoing anything... fucks me up.  When I eat whole foods, my brain and body work better.  When I eat shitty food and don't drink water, I can't think properly.
When we spend time with people who challenge us intellectually we can grow, and when we spend time with people who are dumbing themselves down, we can end up dumbed down too.
And ... if it were only as simple as it being a gender thing. That would help me choose who to associate with.  But it's never a gender thing.
And how can we blame girls for feeling like their looks are the most important thing?  Even here on shroomery people tell me to show my tits if I want anyone to pay attention to me.  If I listen to them, I'll end up dumbed-down too.
It's kind of like that movie "Idiocracy".
