Re: Reincarnation Evidence (Or collective conciousness) [Re: daytripper23]

As far as I understand it (logically speaking), the "you that is not you" is what is reincarnated. Meaning, after you die, your attitudes and karma continue on in those who have been exposed to you.

However, the belief that a soul is transfered from one body to another is not exclusive to the East. Both Egyptian and Celtic tradition describes the same process. It may have been a tenant of early Christanity before the Romans got ahold of it. It was fairly world wide until Christanity squashed it in the West.

why there is reality and patterned, law-like consistency at all, rather than noise or non-reality is not a question physics answers. It's a question physics presupposes an answer to in order to provide other answers.

Yeah, I didn't mean to indicate that the east has dibs or anything like that, but they do have a particular way of describing it.

Going to heaven or hell is reincarnation.  I assume a whole lot of people would believe we keep our personalities in those places, though...

It's the same concept, going up or down on the ladder.

The "East" can be quoted all day for giving credence and support to the feasibility of reincarnation. Or maybe if another billion little brown people believe in it, it will come true? Strength in numbers they say.

The people I encountered in north India seemed to agree with me that much a do about reincarnation can be boiled down to metaphors concerning repeating patterns in human experiences; the resolution of attachments, the birth and death of beliefs, laws of nature that fluctuation in an up and down motion (resembling the death process), etc.

It is yet again just another manifestation of the panta rhei--all flows--concept that was born from Heraclitus in the West.

One still has to ask a fairly important question. Is the supreme, divine mystery that moves the cosmos so petty that it finds solace in taking a boat ride to visit the crash site?

James, by the way, is a pretty good guess for a soldier boy. And the frequency statistics actually correlate the popularity of the name with the war dates quite closely:

(Source: WolframAlpha.com)

It's equivalent to saying Keith is a pedophile. Most likely he is, with a name like Keith.

Of course, I'm being a smartass. The kid in the video knew very specific details that seem unaccounted for by random chance.

Thus: Reincarnation exists. And God. The end.

The thing is, people from India these days don't really know shit about their spiritual roots. I did talk to people from north India as well, and Nepal, and Kashmir and what's hapenning there is exactly what is happening here, spiritually speaking, the essential knowledge has been lost in favor of the superficial aspects. And since you've been there, you probably know that the whole pantheon of hindu deities has recently, during the course of the last decades, been replaced by a single deity... money. Theres cultural rape going on in the east, western culture has been forcing it's way between asian legs and you can see it on every street corner.

All that to say that the typical asian person don't really know shit about the complexities of their spiritual legacy. Hell! It's most probably much easier for a westerner to learn about basic hinduism concepts than for an indian these days. And one of the biggest reasons for that has been the constant colonization and rape of India by western cultures, first the british one and now the american one.

So true. And to my mind, realizing that fact also seems a part of the "spiritual" experience of being over there (if you are truly paying attention).

Indeed, but let's thank the heavens the video didn't casually namedrop twitter in some super out of place scenario like the corporate entities are doing. If I hear that word one more fucking time I'm going to shoot myself.

This case is very interesting. I want to hear the boy himself talk about his memories though. This is what was so unconvincing - the parents did all the talking!
But its definately worth knowing about.

What I wanted to know was, when the kid talked about the plane being a corsair.. ? did the kid already know plenty about planes and stuff? They didnt mention anythin about the fact that he was into military weaponry

This is a fox news clip and it contains one amazing story.  This 11 year old boy remembers being shot down as a pilot in WWII.  He goes backs and meets old veterans and knows their names.  He meets his former sister and shares knowledge only his former self knew.

Child's Nightmares and Memories Prove Reincarnation

So after seeing this story, what are everyone's thoughts on reincarnation?

I think It's pretty damn cool.  I believed Wiccan Seeker before this though.  But this kid just has way more damn proof for those skeptics.

Interesting video but I don't think this will be seen as proof for the skeptics.

I don't see much point in trying to prove that reincarnation exists.

I have my own memories and experiences that help explain my own reincarnation. I don't care if anyone believes me as it doesn't matter either way. If anyone asked me to prove it I would just change the subject. People who need proof in order to believe in something are not worth my time.

Much better to totally trust everyone and believe every single story you are told.

You can hang out with the millions of idiots who bought 'Enzyte' without any proof for they are worthy of your time.

Yup! It seems a little fishy to me. I have a feeling the kid was a lot more vague than the parents let on, and they connected dots after the fact to make everything seem a lot more exact than it actually was.

But who knows.

Why would the fact that I don't need proof in order to believe in something suggest that I would believe anything I was told?

There is such a thing as rational speculation.

Often it is more beneficial to give someone the benefit of the doubt especially when it has no affect on my reality whatsoever.

If I cannot prove how what they're saying is untrue then why should I ask for them to prove it is true.

Some people believe that the devil exists in physical form and although I do not agree I would not suggest that they provide proof in order to defend their sanity. I understand how they could believe such things without having any proof.

Well, it's about time these things start happening here. They have been going on forever in the east. Maybe this will help some to expand their spiritual conceptions.

Hey OC,

It's not my fault you're too lazy to do penis exercises.

You can become impressive on a budget just start doing jelqs.

You're so skeptical you miss out on the fact that some things are in fact possible.
