The Laws of Attraction
    #7245611 -

Last week, after a good rain here, and the day after watching the DVD 'Secret' about getting what you think about, my husband woke up saying he was grateful for being alive and then added "It's going to be a mushroom finding day"...and it was!

He found pan-subbs growing on the grass turf that was just laid in our neighbourhood. The home owner didn't want him walking on the newest part so he gleaned what he could...about 170 grams! He has a digital scale. He felt like it was delivered just about right to him.

He sent me a pm inviting me to join him...it's our little fantasy..we pm each other inviting back and forth to join in enlightening invigorating activities together.

Strange? At least it's monogamous! We're having fun with it. A few times a week we tell each other..check your pm's I think you got one. Now THAT'S attraction!

Tonight he made tea 4 2 and we're just getting started. Pan-subbs are not known for a strong trip so I wonder how this will turn out. I added lemon juice for a kick to both his and my cups.

As far as the "Secret" goes, I found it interesting and based on truth while finding the fancy-shmancy Madison ave. vehicle through which they chose to deliver the "message" to be a little over the top as far as the focus being on cars, money and houses even though they said one could apply the concept they spoke of to any area of ones life.
So tell me your take on the "Secret". I asked the Pubbers and got some thought provoking replies but I think it'll potentially get explored more deeply over he-ah.

A universal 'law' works 100% of the time and can be tested.

The fantasy LOA works about the same as random chance and fails when tested. There are about 117 catalogued 'excuses' when the LOA fails as predicted.

There is very little more to be discussed - though it will be cuz too many people would rather chatter than get down to facts.

Bless you :psychsplit:

It works but, I think choice and intention are illusion and that using Tao and being humble and letting the Universe give what it wants is better than making a big ruckus out of asking for things. Things that you might immediately lose interest in in the first place.

Wow, she exclaimed sarcastically, you are so the know-it-all's know-it-all ain'tcha? You decide when there is very little more to discuss on any given topic or just this one? Unbelievable!

For your comment we will henceforth officially call this post "The Laws of Detraction".

Now what about putting out positive vibes and feeling the ripples thereof? You think of positive things happening and feel grateful and good things happen. You give off negative vibes and the world feels sorry for you at best and gives you some form of the finger otherwise.

I've been on speed meds for ADD for a coupla months now. I've been getting compliments from family and co-workers left and right. I'm exuding confidence and getting positive feedback. Could this be called "attraction?" I'd venture to say it could.

BTW, the pan-subb trip was WONDERFUL. I wrote about it in my first-ever journal entry if y'all wanna check it out. Tra la. Have a GR8 day!

Postive thinking at ALL times is how the force works. That and keeping the mind quiet ( inner dialogue ) using meditation is a big bonus. It's hard to describe how it works to an in depth science because it is just now being researched.

It all comes down to quantum physics and like attracts like. Best advice i can give is to guard your thoughts, anything AND I MEAN ANYTHING that would make you gripe bicker sad or anything negative should never even be considered for thought. Glass is always half full and not half empty. And you will always be tested to see if you are ready to move up a level. The only way to move up is to literally be happy with everything that you have at this present moment wether it be nothing or something. The force doesn't work for envious people either. If you're not humble, then you can forget it. God will never do anything for a person that has his/her nose stuck up in the air thinking they are better then somebody just because they have a better looking car etc.

Humility before honour ALWAYS

Exactly how do you mean quantum physics is involved? Like charges repel each other in physics, and two neutral fermion particles will avoid each others for pure quantum reasons.

"Like attracts like" is a psychological phenomenon. "Opposites attract" is another psychological phenomenon. Both tend to be explanations after the fact...

It would take 5-6 paragraphs to explain it. OR you can just pick up the paperback book and read the 2nd chapter and have it all explained.

The law of attraction is nothing but quantum physics. It IS quantum physics. It's where they came up with the "LAW of attraction" Even though in reality your not attracting nothing, you're simply dreaming your reality into existence.

Quantum or not...the rest of what Suave said meshes with the personal and communal philosophy my husband and I ascribe to and are trying  to cultivate in our personal lives and in out home. Sometimes I feel down like I'm just up against a brick wall as far as getting to the next level. I've rarely heard anyone else talk of levels, tests to get there and attributing it to God. Thanks Suave..you worded it beautifully!

There is another hogwash book called 'Quantum Touch'. Naturally there is nothing particularly 'quantum' about it nor is it explained how hands affect matter at the quantum level (as it cannot be).

'Quantum' is the latest adopted New Age term to be tossed about as it is mysterious and hard to grasp and sounds scientific. It is supposed to lend an air of credibility where there is none.

Can one affect their own inner mood? No doubt.

Are people generally happier around happy people. Most likely.

Can mere thinking violate causality? Definitely not.

Can 'positive vibes' be tested for? They have and have failed every controlled test.

What more is there to say? You form a positive picture then look for feedback from the real world. This is called 'confirmation bias'.

See my post on Criss Angel.

You just wrote 5 paragraphs there... [Edit: sorry, 5 sentences. 2 paragraphs]
Which paperback book are you referring to by the way?

I did manage to attract a woman in my reality, but she is very different from me.

I am thinking that this "Law of Attraction" idea might be some misunderstanding of Leibniz' "Identity of Indiscernibles" or perhaps of Everett's "Many Worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics?

Rhizoid: Attracting someone different from you could be attracting EXACTLY what you need. She can be 100% for you and be different. After all...vive la difference ala Venus/Mars and ala physiology. Sigh.

OC: If thinking effects your actions, then your causality (never heard that word b/f) is effected. "Violated" is a strong word dontcha think? Personally I reserve that word for rape and such other horribly negative impositions on others. Ah, semantics.
What more is there to say? You think you covered it all and we're just beating a dead horse? I offer up to differ. I try not to beg.

Here's what else there is to say: I'm sending you Mummy hugs to warm your vibes up....here they come...you got 'em?

So now it is about how actions affect reality? How is that a secret?

(Note to audience: we are already stepping into the infamous 'moving target' scenario so popular with fluffernauts.)

It is a technical term in physics. Ah, ignorance.

It's really really tough to grasp how it truly works. The secret really oversimplifys a process that is more about a struggle over the self. It doesn't work anything like the way most people think it does which is why there are so many critics doing there best to call it hogwash.

Make no mistake, it exists and it works to your advantage once you grasp the concept. And thats the hard part, truly understanding it... And you won't be able to do it from watching the secret which is more marketing then the science behind the facts of physics.

Once you 'get it' though. Mmmmmmmm so useful

Okay, OC I'll be the first to admit my ignorance but I still think you include some ivory tower arrogance in your replies. Have pity on this ignorant individual and teach with patience. Did you absorb messages from professors who were haughty? Perhaps yes.

Thoughts do no create reality but they (*positive thought) effect it by *hopefully inspiring one to action.

Oh, inspiration cannot be clinically proven.... well too bloody bad. There's a raspberry for ya. Am I being annoying? I imagine so, so I'll let you prove me wrong in your bored tone...have fun doing so...and with that many posts, sir,,,do you LIVE here?

it's downright HYSTERICAL that people think that positive thinking is what creates the law of attraction..... what a laugh everytime i see a critic debunk it using that bs hahaha

It goes way beyond keeping a positive open mind. And there is sooo much more to it then it seems and you'll only find it through study. And not studying "the secret".

ALl those people understand it to the point they figure they can just put what works for them out on the table for it to work for other people but NO, doesn't happen like that. First you have to believe in god or a higher power then you must go from there.

I believe in a whole bunch of gods. Sometimes they don't agree with each other. Which one controls the Law-of-attraction thing?
