The Bodhisattva Vow
    #5422407 -

...was something that you took at birth -it is our most basic nature

We all are buddha nature with our own bodhicitta
There are two kinds of bodhicitta
                            1. The Mind Resolved on Awakening(aspiring)
                            2. The Mind Proceeding Towards Awakening(engaging)

Your shadow is the mind resolved on awakening.  Everything is perfect as it is.

We are all reflecting each others buddha-nature, we are the guru.

Then the aspiring mind= Paticcasamupp?da-method ? the Law of Dependent Origination

Then the engaging mind= Patth?na-method ? the Law of Causal Relations

This is how the phenomena of existence is conditioned

if we all take this vow at birth (how is it that we do so?) why is it that some will stray deliberately from any path that even remotely resembles awakening?

Call me an Arhat, but 'I' want out of here. 'I' do not 'desire' to return for the sake of all sentient beings. But it doesn't matter does it, if at my essence I AM the Clear Light of Unmitigated Reality. Many other conditioned beings will arise, short of annihilation of our species, even if Markos is gone forever. The earth receives my molecules, beings receive my samskaras. Cosmic recycling. I 'Know' the possibilities, but, what does it matter and who cares?

my point is that human existence will exist until it no longer exists

to me the vow is more of an acceptance of the human condition

at the essence is the "clear light of unmitigated reality"
my personal philisophy says that this pure "essence" is void of any self or subject-object

self is an illusion

markos is the clear light of unmitigated reality
not the self that thinks he's markos

god is everything and nothing

when someone says I have delayed my enlightenment in order to save my fellow humans
.to me this says I cannot shake my attachment to love

buddha helps many many people. buddha is a bodhisattva before reaching buddahood

my wording is unclear at best and I'm sure I use many buddhist terms outside of their meaning

i am getting involved at the zen center of denver to resolve this issue
then maybe more will understand my posts :tongue2:

i know what I want to say, but now how to say it

Well said. I find that I can say no more in comment. I have Experienced "Unbearable Compassion," and I believe that it is the Nature of Ultimate Reality. I merely try to live without suffering and I do not desire to expand much on the horizontal plane of this world: no exceptional wealth, or property or power or offspring. Controlled sexuality. Kindness to those I encounter, dispassion for those who are evil, wicked or intentionally hurtful. Long life is desirable if greater Enlightenment and Liberation (whatever that means) is the result, and not merely existence for pleasure or for fear of death.

i meant to say that
we don't take the vow, we are the vow

because you have yet to realize that all paths go to the same place

there is no path, until you have finished it :crazy2:

Well all paths do go to the same place.
But do you walk the middle one, or do you climb up a mountain jump off it into a huge canyon.... then climb back up and do it again...... then go try to swim across the ocean in order to get there?

I do not deny that we all end up the same place at some point, that we all have the Buddha-nature...... but for those that do become humans, some of them seem rather hopeless......... I mean I see it on the one hand that maybe they live a really degenerate hateful life so that their realization, when it does come around, is greater........

but what of the dictators? They seem to have so much karma in their way that I'm not sure how they can attain liberation unless they receive little karma for their actions, rather their fate is simply having to suffer through being a dictator? I mean it's metaphors lodged in metaphors... I recall on some Buddhist forums people discussing how it doesn't make sense for hell to have guardians that dole out punishing but do not suffer.

It all makes sense if all the realms aren't realms, they're states of existence on earth, though............. but ............. it is a challenging thing to think about.

I seem to be going the arhat path too, myself and am hoping that in this lifetime I figure out how to attain the utmost liberation through practice with dream and sleep states. I mean it occurs to me, you lucid dream every night... why are you struggling trying to adhere to doctrines, dogmas and the guilts that they bring and things like that.... when you have this path right in front of you to enlightenment.

The only thing is dreams = waking reality for me, all the distractions and hinderances are present in them, all the temptations are easy to indulge in.

we are all right here now
there is no where to go

there is no doubt that person A will be stuck in suffering until the end of person A

there will never be another person A
but persons A's karma will continue on as cause and effect

this is a point that I need to work on
-it would be lovely to figure out what reincarnation really is
I am on the cusp of saying what I want but can't quite do it

what do you mean by realms?

what I mean is that the Buddhists have different realms that you can be born into, but I think they are more metaphorical of existence as a human being.

Gods
Humans
Animals
Hungry Ghosts
Hells

now........... I think many humans ARE hungry ghosts, and I think America conditions people to be hungry ghosts..... if you read the psychedelic experience it sort of talks about how rejecting parts of you during the rebirth/psychedelic experience leads to being neurotic and they equate it with being a hungry ghost... indulging lustfully in the experience leads to being an animal.... etc... etc.

But just as sure as I was born I know that there is a chance I will be again.......... no I do not have continuity between my life and other lives I have lived, but I think I remember some things about past existences, or maybe am just accessing collective memory........ but.............. I do know that we continue existing in SOME way beyond this ego personality, which is where karma plays a crucial role and which is why I'm saying these people that really go severely astray, will find themselves much farther away from "enlightenment" next time around.

Or I fear they will. It isn't fair and I prefer a "everyone is saved immediately" model ala savioristic ideals.
