I think i see a little bit of green in there, may just be the photo, but........ I always get the green with 50/50 and gypsum, never tired it with oyster shell also, i guess that makes all the difference.

The green is the iridescence from the oyster shell. Joshua

I upped the saturation to bring out the colours more.. it looks like there?s some radiance but green dust is clearly visible on some of the verm. Not lookin good :( Could be wrong tho :)

Pretty cool, that is how my K. samui mycelium looks as well...without the green though...crossing fingers...neat to see that the strains in general produce, the same kind of mycelium types. What I mean is, each strain has it?s own mycelium finger print...errr...maybe I am on just on crack...but I swear it is true. Cheers

Here are pics of my freshly sterilised casing layer. If you would increase saturation on these pics I would bet money that it would show the same iridescence.

Here are my most recent Koh Samui casing pics from 1/12 and 1/13. I have two trays, one I labled "A", the other "B". A was place in the fruiting chamber 4? days ago, b tray is still in incubator pending further colonisation. Tray A is starting to show hyphael knot formation. 1/13
B tray is almost ready to be placed in the fruiting chamber, probably late tomorrow. 1/12
1/13
Enjoy!!! Joshua

These pics are from tray B. I still have not placed this one in my terrarium as I have no room. I will be putting the finishing touches on a second terrarium tomorrow. I am cold shocking it tonight and will place it in my fuiting chamber tomorrow.

These are pics from the "B" tray. I have left this out at room temp (aprox 68-70 deg. F) for nearly two days. I placed this in my chamber (82 deg. F) to hopefully start some fruiting.

I wouldn?t worry about it being uneven. Sometimes an uneven surface is good. It provides microclimates which the mycelium can select for optimal temp/humidity. I?m sure if all goes well you will see good results. Joshua I did some reading in The Mushroom Cultivator and came across the casing section. It basically said I was wrong w/ my previous statement. You should attempt to create an even substrate and casing layer. Joshua 2/1

Alright..those are some sweet pics. You?re going to have a nice couple flushes.. Maybe I?m just stoned but looking at those pictures trips me out...its like an entire microcosm of life. Think of what it would be like if we were the mycelium... that would be crazy. It looks thirsty. Keep up the good work!

Here are the pins 24 hrs later. Casing "A"
Casing "B"
As you can see I have plenty of pins comming up. I have a couple of questions. 1) Is it possible to get all of the pins I see to develop into fruits? no How do I get the highest number of pins to develop into fruits? Correct moisture and temperature. 2) Are some of these pins going to remain dormant until the next flush? yes, pins forming at the initial flush sustain fruits for both the first and second flushes. I could use advise on how to successfuly develop these pins to fruits with the highest yeild. Joshua

Those look very healthy, remember that flush of mine (pf style) the cap opened young but the stem still grew huge.
