Final weight first flush [Re: shaman2b]

Harvested the remaining fruits this morning. Total wet weight of flush was 98g. I dried the first half last night -- 52g wet yielded 4g dry. The casing is now in the fridge for a dunk. We'll see how the second flush goes...

Funny you should ask....
I had to eat some today. Looks like I'm gonna have to grow some more reaaaal soon.
I'm kinda in the middle of things right now if ya know what I mean, so a full report won't be coming for a little while. But you fungus funsters will certainly get one.
Fungus funsters. I like that.

Update Aug 16 [Re: shaman2b]

Trip report has been posted to Trip Tips.
Grow update: Saturday evening I returned the dunked casing to the fruiting chamber and noticed the first tiny pins on the other two casings.
One thing I forgot to mention is that I upped the lighting from 6 hrs to 8hrs in the middle of the fruiting. Then on Saturday I upped it again to 10 hrs. Pins are looking good; I'll post a pic when they get a little bigger.

casing #2 & #3 are fruiting [Re: shaman2b]

This morning it's a sea of pins, and I even have an aggressive mature one to pick. Casing #2 (the smaller container) is the same mix as casing #1 previously discussed: 2 half-pint PF cakes, crumbled & cased. The third casing, my larger one, is done with 2 pints of rye. I had to do 4 half-pints 'cuz my PC at the time wasn't big enough. I used Magash's simple rye tek for that one.
Yummilicious! Today I'm prepping some more jars for inoculation. There are three about ready to birth, so I want to make sure there's always somethin' cookin'. That first excruciating wait is now a thing of the past! This next batch I'm trying to choose between EQ's & B+. Waddaya guys think? Cheers, S2b

The smaller one is a plastic Gladware-type container, approx. 9"x5"x5"H. The larger one is an aluminum pan approx 8"x12"x3 1/2"H.
Since the plastic one is clear, I wrapped some foil around it so pins won't form where they shouldn't.

Casing yields & grow update [Re: ]

Thanks for all the feedback. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Well, actually there IS a post, but it's another trip report...
So even though I got distracted for a while, my babies have been receiving the attention they need and deserve!
The first casing yielded two flushes. 98g + 28g = 126g total. I stopped after the second one because I was a afraid of contams. One thing I left out of my grow log, is that there appeared to be a bit of green on my casing early on, and I used a salt-tek to arrest it. Everything seemed to work out okay, but I figure that doing so may have impacted the ability to go beyond two flushes. I dunno. Besides, I had some more jars ready to case anyway!
The second casing (identical mixture as the first) was just returned to the fruiting chamber two days ago after a second flush of 31g. The first flush was about 70g, for a total of 101g so far.
The third casing (done with 2 pints of rye) was just returned to the fruiting chamber last night. First flush yielded only 59g. Not sure why it was less than either of the other two crumbled BRF casings. The second flush yielded 67g of some beautiful larger fruits, for a combined total of 126g! I didn't take any pix of the second flush, sorry.
Yesterday afternoon while the fruiting chamber was waiting to receive refreshed casings, I decided to clean it out and also UPGRADE myself to Geolite!!! I rinsed them in a bucket and used a strainer to return them to the cleaned fruiting chamber. Added my 10% H2O2 solution & was ready to go. Yippie, no more Perlite!!!
Also last night I crumbled some TH Koh Samui cakes into a new casing. These TH's have been incubating since Jul 25.
After the first flush on the first casing, I did a few spore prints for insurance, using a Magash tek. I intend to do at least 4 prints for each strain.
I just knocked up some EQ jars on Aug 18 and they are coming along nicely with some Rhizo growth, although a bit slower because my incubator is running a bit below 80 degrees. (I'm not using a heater at the moment; the room had been warmer until recently). I decided to wait on the B+ because there won't be any room in the fruiting chamber for a while.
Cheers,
S2b
