1/24/06 -Well finally, after about 2 weeks (not incubated) my jars of corn innoc'd with the Koh Samui strain are done. Most have been spawned into Tenn Stud's 50/50 poo straw, while this one particular jar was left over and i am going to fruit the corn cake itself. Enjoy:) I will post pics of the poo casings when they get further along, and hopfully pinset pics of this cake in a few days
1/25/06- Got the corn cake in the terrarium now, after a good ol dunk and roll. Also, after looking at the jar i took the cake out of there was alot of mycelium stuck to the glass, so when i took the cake out yesterday, rather than just washing it out, I put a bit of poo in the bottom, about 1/2" or so, and put some polyfill over it and closed the jar. Already today it is growing
1/26/06- Corn cake is growing quickly, myc. is peeking through verm layer already, Poo casings are coming along very well, and should be ready soon, i will post pics of them tomorrow with new pics of the corn cake tomorrow. At this rate i bet the cake wil be fruiting before the week is out.

I have misted for the 2nd time today, the casing layer is almost completely white now, and has started knotting significantly, this strain seems to be progrssing MUCH faster than others i have used in the past.
1/27/06- Opened it up to mist it this morning, and what a difference in only 24hrs! Everything seems to be going VERY fast, maybe this is a "super strain" ,as they call it, after all? Also have some pics of the other 2 cakes spawned into Tenn stud 50/50. Those 2 cakes were a full week faster than this cake pictured here. Those 2 cakes were used to spawn, 2x 2 quart, and 2x 1 pint containers full of tenn stud, and topped with polyfill. All are covered with holes in the lids for air exchange. I plan on casing the containers and just fruiting them like a casing for the 2 quart ones, and fruiting the smaller ones like a cake. Well here are the pics, i only have pics of 2 of the tenn stud containers as the other 2 are opaque, so no pics of them until fruiting.

1/30/06(edited)- Well i figured id give it a few days to update here, most of the poo containers are colonized fully now and i will be moving them into the big TIT. Got a cool mist now to put in there so should be going smoothly soon. It appears the problems i was having earlier were related to poor FAE and lack of proper fanning, so im steppin it up and well see, also the big TIT should be done tomorrow with some goodies!! Well heres a few new pics. The fuzz seen on the top of the poo container is NOT cobweb, it is polyfill I layered it onto of the poo a little to keep contams out and the myc grew into it a bit:)
2/2/06- Well my work schedule changed a bit so i was unable to get the big tit done until today. I was able to simply put the cool mist and heater in to see if the temps and RH were good enough and it reached 83 degrees and 86% RH overnight, so i think ill be alright. Well today i was able to hook the hose up to the cool mist, make the "water heater" (see pic) and get everything in there. Also today, my first pin showed up on the corn cake, so i put it in the FC. The cool mist i have is different from all others ive seen used on here, so i had to emprovise on the hose, but it seems to be working very well, and has actually raised the RH of my entire basement to around 70%, as well as the FC being very high:) By far the best investment ive made yet. I simply got some good vinyl tubing, and a funnel large enought o fit over the 7 inch outlet on the cool mist. I cut the funnel to fit the 4" hose on the other end, then ran it through a hole over the heater in the center of the FC, nice humid air just pours in:) Also, i figured out that my heaters kept dying becuase they need to be upright i guess according to the directions. So, i got a gallon jar i had sitting around, punched a hole in the lid, wedge the plastic end of the heater in there, so now that is heating my FC and the thermostat doesnt get wet:) The 200watt was able to reach 83 degrees halfway up, but was a bit too large for the jar, so i am now running the 75 watt in there, and hoping to get around 68-70 without having to go to a larger wattage. Also, afetr having the cool mist in there overnight to test it out i found that alot of condensation formed on the inside walls, so i layered the bootom of the FC with dry perlite to wick up the water, and also added some drainage holes in the bottom where it can drain into another tub. Lighting is a 4 watt floro, produces a nice dim light throughout the FC. Well i think that about covers it for now, i will be making a glove box tonight or maybe tomorrow, and preparing to harvest a couple shrooms from the corn cake in a few days On with the new pics, o and the fuzz on the poo/straw is again, polyfill.

2/7/06- Well, i had a problem with the big FC at first, RH was down real low, like 60%, so i ended up having to just leave it in the FC, RH is now at a steady 88-90%, and no problems yet. Heat bomb is keeping it at a steady 68-70 F so all seems ideal. Light is a 4 watt floro on a 12/12 cycle. Two and a half quarts worth of colonized poo were crumbled up into a big casing which now is JUST about to pin, the casing layer is starting to colonize very evenly, so im not going to patch it. I have to head to work so i will post pics and more later tonight or tomorrow.
