can anyone explain this strangeness that happened to me today?
    #4894577 -

So I was in a big store today where they sell everything you need for your house, from TVs to beds. And I fell upon one of my favorite inventions ever: a massage chair. This one was special though, the massage consisted of electronic vibrations. It felt gooood..

Now here's the strange part. As I was sitting there enjoying the massage that went from the neck down to the lower back, I noticed, at about 100-150 feet away from me where all the TVs where, that the image showing on the tv screens was getting disrupted in a wavy fuzzy manner (like on 5 TVs out of 15). Kind of life how a computer screen in a computer room gets disrupted when another computer is turned on...know what I mean?

Well anyway, I noticed that these disruptions had rythms to them. And soon enough I realized that this rythm was the same rythm at which the massage chair was massaging my neck!

So, like anyone else, I start thinking that the electronic chair has some weird influence on tvs. But when I bent over so as to not get my shoulders and neck massaged, the TV disruptions stopped! The disruptions only happened when the messages were being performed close enough to my brain!

I stayed there for about twenty minutes, testing things and wondering how this could be so, using different massage modes (for example when the massage was continuously done on my shoulders/neck, the image was continuously disrupted), but i concluded that this was a proof that there is still so much that we don't know, especially concerning our brains.

So who can offer an explanation for this?

Your skull is probably a more effective shield from the electrical pulses, thus causing the pulses to bounce off & effect the TV's.

Try it with your remote-control at home. If you bounce the signal off your hand or leg, it won't turn the TV off. A wall or your head will bounce it back towards the TV.

heh, well i don't know about your fascination being the same as proof, but I will certainly agree that kinda stuff happens all the time to me too.

here is my theory:

the "massage" chair was plugged into the same outlet / circuit as the 5 tvs you saw messing up. When you had your whole body against all the sensors, the massage chair was requiring more power, and drawing a little bit of power from the tvs, as you could see.

then, when you sat forward to avoid the sensors for your neck + shoulders, the tvs went back to normal.

If you're describing what I think you're describing, I'm pretty sure it's the result of your head (and thus eyes) being vibrated. What you were seeing was some sort of harmonic interference between the display frequency of the TV (the picture being refreshed 60 times a second) and your field of vision vibrating because of the chair. You can also see this effect by humming a very low note and looking at a digital clock. If you do it just right the digits will rise and fall like they're doing the wave.

Stop thinking so much, empty your mind, do it again and you will see your yourself.

Good thinking!

well then how come the tvs didn't go buzurk when i had my whole lower back against the chair? that should require just as much power as when my neck and shoulders were against it. (when my whole body was agaisnt the sensors, its only when the sensors closes to my head were activated that the tvs were disrupted)

hmmm, interesting. but shouldn't all TVs be vibrating in that case?

and i tried humming while looking at a digital clock but it didn't work.

ya that remote control thing worked.

but since the electrical pulses were coming from behind my skull and since the TVs were in front of me, I don't see how this could work.

I think I should just stop thinking!

I would also go for GulGens explanation. If you have an electric toothbrush, you can use that instead of humming, it makes the effect really obvious.

GulGen is right. Vibrations on your skull let your field of vision vibrate. That interferes with the frequencies of the displays...
It often surprised me while humming deep sounds (those who resonate with your body) and I see the dancing digits too
Aeh, in otherwords: GulGen, exactly

Perhaps the other TVs had different diplay-frequencies...

Okay so if this is true, that means that I would be the only one able to see the TV disruptions.

I'll have to go back there with someone and ask if they see the same thing I see. I'm pretty sure that person will say yes though.

the upper massage motor is either defective under load, or your upper torso is too heavy for the design and so, when engaged with you, it throws off an RF stress signature that screws with tv scan rates.

Yes, the one on the seat will see it.
If those not on the chair will see the same, I maybe will fly to the U.S. and look on it myself

kind of like radios... radios trip me out. like ill be listening to the radio getting a clear reception, but if i bend over or move my arm this way it goes fuzzy, move my arm back and its good again. random things. one step this way radio goes out, one step THAT way and it gets clearer...

lol, yup.

one time i was in bed with a girlffriend listening to the radio which was at about 5 feet from us, and each time our heads would get closer together to kiss, the radio went all fuzzy. that was trippy

Nope, just CRT tech  . The new LCD and plasma TV's don't use refreshing rates like older CRT's do, thus they won't seem to tremble.

It doesn't work that way. The resonance has to be strong enough to propagate through out the whole scull, which was what the massage chair was doing when your skull was resting on it. Try placing your chin on some table and try again.

well alot of massage chairs/ pads are activated when you touch them, so maybe when you bent away some parts of the machine turned on, or off...

i think sitting in one of those for 20 minutes might cause you to hallucinate too...

Hehe I was at work and the radio sounded like shit, one of my friend from work took his shirt off and the signal was good, then put it back and it would go bad, this was done like a 100 times, not to make proof or anything just to amuse me and some mates. Uncontrolable laughter was the result.
