Fuck the "Law"

the law is worthless...

telling us what not to do...

instead...tell us what is possible...

"it is possible for someone to murder you, what we try to do is prevent people from murdering." to me that statement is more effective.

Consequences are somewhat ineffective at detouring anything....instead state the possibility and what can be done about it to prevent it.

On the contrary, positive reinforcement is proven to be less effective than negative reinforcement.

What if your theory was put to use, and I just happened to stick up a bank and kill all the witnesses. With no consequences, not even a slap on the wrist, I'd bankrupt the world.

And so the pendulum swings. Every 35 years or so, the system changes. Right now, we are in a punishment mode. Soon, we will be trying to rehabilitate again. Maybe.

Sometimes we think that the consequence of jail time will right the world's woes, and then other times we think that if we "fix" the criminal, he won't commit any more crimes, and that will fix the world's woes.

Maybe if there were fewer laws, there would be fewer crimanals. j/k. That's bullshit. We need laws because there will always be people doing things to hurt others, or society. (Are we on our way to another forum???)

Yeah, no kidding. "Law", eh? Sure, it's nice people don't kill me in my sleep. I like there being legal recourses of action when I have disputes with employers or landlords. But frankly, there are plenty of unjust laws I regularly disobey, and I'd think less of myself if I didn't violate these laws. The trouble is 'unjust' is such a relative term. And lots of people disagree with most other people on just what constitutes a law so antiquated it can safely be disregarded. Would we be better off without law? Probably not, let's just do away with cops instead.

The only true laws are the laws of physics. I'm not saying there shouldn't be consequences....I'm just saying we should talk about them the way we do. Don't tell someone not to kill...tell them we will try to stop them and possibly kill them first.

Nothing is worthless. It's just all we (most people) can handle. Yet it is used too often by the powers that be for fear control to steal the freedoms that life has offered us.

Perhaps it is not earth-justice, what shall enforce our positive laws for acting.
Earth justice is hear to prevent the negative actions.

To enforce positive actions is perhaps a different topic, not connected to earth-justice ?

So, you are free to act positive, if you want, but you will be bound, if you will do harm, by societies means of justice.

(I know, I am an optimist there :grin:)
