You know what... fuck it.
I've had enough with the bullshit here. I don't know if it's immaturity or stupidity or both, but I can't take it anymore.
I only ask for simple things like evidence, good logic during debates, good grammar and spelling, and well-grounded ideas. Let's address these one by one.
Proper evidence is never shown. Eyewitness accounts DO NOT count... anyone can claim they saw anything and we would have to believe it if that were not the case. Good logic during debates is rarely seen by the B.A.R.F. (Believers Against Rationality and Facts) and when it does show up, it is only in small quanta. Good grammar and spelling... I'll just refer you to any of cHeMiCaLbLuE's posts (he's not the only guilty one though). Well-grounded ideas- this one is actually impossible to explain if you can't understand my good logic complaint as it is basically a combination of good logic AND the corresponding evidence that coheres nicely with that logic.
That is what I am missing.
Here is what I get instead:
* Constant copycat one-line misunderstandings that originate in TRYING to mimic Swami's style of posting. First off, Swami is not picking on JUST ONE LINE. He picks on one line to make it easy on himself. By showing where the thought process of the post goes wrong (not necessarily the poster, though everyone seems to take this personally), he is able to avoid being REDUNDANT. So then we get people nit-picking EVeRY SINgle post made by him. They'll pick out a line in bold that they don't understand or disagree with (without comprehending most of the information AFTER that line... so we get Swami constantly having to say: "I guess you didn't see this line _____") and then they'll try to find some sort of contradiction that isn't there (try looking up words before you use them).
* Emotional outbursts (Yeah, this post is just that, but I need to vent, so fuck it) and name-calling (benign example: inserting "fool" here and there).
* Dogmatic insistence upon the "truth" of an experience and whatnot.
* Aliens. I don't think I need to say anything more. They would've made their presence known to the general public by now. Not that I don't believe in the POSSIBILITY of life on other planets, it's just that Earth has yet to be "visited". Funny how before science, everyone was having religious experiences (visited by the Virgin Mary and whatnot). And now that science has become the driving force of civilization, we get all these alien stories (thanks Orson).
I could go on.... but the memories are making me physically ill.

meh. people can say what the want about anything. doesn't have to agree with you or logic, not all these posts are debates. i understand many are hard as hell to read and comprehend, esp if its a full page of tripped out rambling. but whatever. not everything has to be logical. people can post despite evidence and well grounded ideas, esp in this forum. so if you've had enough, are you leaving?

First let me say that I really enjoy your posts. Just like the title you cut to the chase and you have good ideas.
I think part of the problem is that some posters look at this as a debate sight and others look at it as a place to share experiences and information. That's bound to piss some of the people off no matter what is said or how it is said.
From your posts I'm guessing that you are the kind of person who wants the facts....ones that can be examined carefully, and studied with logic. I think that if the truth were a bucket of water.....you would drink it!
The problem is in proving that this bucket of water IS the truth.
You know that I am a believer in a lot of things that you find hard to swallow, or maybe outrightly enraging.....but I would offer a suggestion for "belief".....
.....start where you are......take something from deep inside yourself.....something that there may not be complete proof for.....but something that pulls strongly at your "innerds" that just "has a sense" that it is right and that by following this....."It is the right thing".....
Do this thing.......see if a sense of belief blooms that could then be proven with your logic.

What do you expect? I know how I believe but I'm one of the most skeptical bastards out there, how do you think I feel when my own friends say they beleive that guy from the show "passing over"can really talk to the dead. You just have to get used to the fact some people believe weird shit and even they don't really know why (or can't explain it). If you think you can talk someone out of believing in god here you're sorely mistaken.
That said I really enjoy your post cause I think we are quuite like minded .

i propose (for a start) :
applicants for the shroomery should have an IQ over 150.
formal examinations should be held before entry.
rationality checks should be performed during the day on all forums.
inconsistent posts should be discarded.
strict penalties for spelling and grammar errors should be given.

If you think other people are idiots, what the fuck is the big deal? Why are you so worked up about it? Are you actually here to have someone "prove" something to you? You seem so hell-bent on getting something out of the believers, when you know quite well that nothing said by that faction is going to be satisfactory to you. You have dubbed them BARF. Fantastic. If this place makes you physically ill just because some people who like to talk dreamy metaphysics and aliens can't come up with facts or proof, I don't know what the fuck you are doing here. And you complain about me calling someone a fool (the emotional outburst!!!!) - You already pointed out your own hypocrisy on this one. So you are right fuck it. If you find this place so worthless, don't come here anymore. I for one wish to talk some dreamy metaphysics, and I don't really care if someone makes an alien post once in a while.

I always enjoyed your posts. Your ideas are always interesting. I like your criticism of some other ideas posted on this board as well.
