programed universe and gods plans
    #4408366 - 07/15/05 05:38 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

do you sometimes get that feeling that something that happens to you must have been a work of an intelligent being. Inother words, do you find "signs"?

I have many times experienced such things, they always happen when you least expect it.
Such coincidences that steer your life. Like loss of electricity that does something to change your life etc.

These scenarios last for a few years, and nothing makes sense until the end where all elements come together and start making so much sense as if you were guided through "the force" or something.
The next thing after that realization is the overwhelming feeling that someone or something is playing games with you and is ridiculously obvious.

Next couple of days after such culmination, I keep thinking how stupid I am blowing the whole thing out of proportions. Then it gets back to the idea that is is all a coincedence and that there is no god, there is no "force", there is nothing, and all is an illusion in my head made by a coincidence.

Right now, I am in that state when everything comes back to normal after a few days of feeling like a puppet that is gouded by the universe to a very specific and obvious end.
Right now, I feel foolish for thinking such things.

the question is, do you ever get these days in your life when you could swear something can not be a coincidence but must be a part of some plan?

Yeah, God likes to inconvenience tens of thousand of people to send you a message.

Can you say "egocentric" folks?

You enjoy avoiding posts that you can't negate, don't cha? Like in the other thread.

Any who, most theologians and philosophers agree that if God exists, he exists outside of time. It is a necessary in order for free will to exist without great contradiction.

Also, the divine command theory leads to this assumption.

Philosophy 101.

I don't know why it is so hard to follow the simple rules. Personalisms are to have no place in a discussion.

Basic philosophy.

I often feel as if the material universe is lines of code and that God is merely the compiler, or better yet, the interpreter.

In this highly organized world view where does the material world fit in.

coincidence... god's plan... what's the difference?

responding to: swami

i dont think that's egocentric. gomp showed with his fractals that everyone can be the center of the universe simultaneously. whereas egocentric implies IMO that 'i' am the center and others are not.

which is not what i got from what OWS was saying about electricity going out- he was talking about his own center and made no statement about anyone else's

It does not make any difference regarding past and present, but it does matter for future.

if the cause-and-effect throughout time is god's plan, then i imagine they would produce the same future

it's like there's the cause-and-effect through time
and in my mind you can say, that's god's plan, or it's not

and me, i'm saying it is

I understand what you are saying.

And that much is certain, with or without god there is cause and effect, which can be called gods plan, or simple rules

BUT what I'm talking about is a plan that is centered around living things. Like a complex system of events that have millions of effects on millions of beings, sort of like this:

there is a car crash.
the man in the car ends up on a wheelchair and he is transformed into another person, starts appretiating things more etc.
Then the guy in the second car stayed alive and in good shape, but is late to work, and gets fired, then he finds another job where he meets his future wife. Then a guy is passing by on the street and sees the car crash and stops to look at what is happening. He looks at the watch and sees that time has passed and the store where he went had closed, so he returns home, only to find a guy with his wife in bed or something.
Then a woman is passing by, and someone is following her, instead of calling the police, she comes to the near by police on a cell phone officer who was standing at the crash site, the man that was following her escapes. (let's say he was about to rape her)

etc. Let's say this event played a role in lives of 2000 people in that day only, and to millions more in an indirect way.

Now imagine a whole network of such events that each were preprogramed at the begining of time, and you have to learn to surf them, in order to follow gods plan. You can also reject these "signs" and pass on the chances.

the difference between no-god and god preprograming here would be this:
without god, life would be like surfic chaos, and making the best of it
with this theory, life would be like finding patterns and hidden doors, that were not there by chance but were place by god just for you (a whole bunch of doors for billions of beings, some shar door that have different meanings etc.)

Of course such complexity would be beyond level of understanding of human beings because it would be so complex
