yes a simple explanation of Terence Mckenna's novelty theory would be this:

Nature creates and conserves novelty; that is, in general, nature, and its fruits, will continually become more and more complex through time.

A bit more detailed way he's described it:

Think of the big bang - right after the big-bang, there wasn't really much going on at all, it was basically radiation and that's it.. but as time passed, simple atomic structures started forming, and then complex molecular structures, and so on.... life sparked somewhere.. life continued to evolve, to become more complex... which brings us to now, where we have brains and computers doing highly-complex calculations and processing.

While SOME systems do become simpler, IE the process of USING a computer is now very simple compared to days of amiga and dos and stuff, the OVERALL novelty of nature will continue to rise, IE the processes of COMPUTING are now much more complex, which gives way to easier use.

sometimes I wonder if things could ever go back to being simple. there are infinit possibilities and if so then why not keep expanding. if there's infinity then how can there be a limit?

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.
