Simple and Complex
    #2035922 - 10/23/03 01:25 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Simple would be silent master.

Complex would be master with too many words.

Too many possibilites run in my mind. Simple could be complex and complex could mean simple. I guess it's about what way I want to look at it at the time I look at it.

What do you think about the complexities of nanotechnology? Would it be moral to create things that could end up leading to our destruction? Ex: Atomic Bombs... Do we really need things so complex? I know if I were a scientist I would want to look at things in the most complex manner because that would make it more accurate.

The atomic bomb is even all that complex, really.

I don't think it would necessarily be immoral. By doing something as simple as going for a walk one day, you may trigger a long and wild chain of events that eventually leads to the destruction of humanity.

Sometimes a simple life can be very satisfying. Sometimes it can also be very empty and painful. This does not mean that it is more noble or satisfying than a complex life.

Hehe, first off, I like it when you post this way more than the other way!

Secondly, I think everything starts off simple. Like our collective knowledge. We just didn't know much when we started off.

Then we started a race to collect all this knowledge. Our understanding of the Universe gets more and more complex.

There will come a point when we will have collected every understanding of the Universe. The Universe will then be summed up in One idea. Simple.

Hehe. Constant race around the circle..
Peace.

"There will come a point when we will have collected every understanding of the Universe. The Universe will then be summed up in One idea. Simple. "

I'm not sure if that's possible. Maybe if you understood the universe, that would create a big bang inside your head... which may prove fatal.

I'm not sure that the human mind is equipped to understand the universe. It's more of a locate food and sex device than anything.

I agree, we aren't really capable of understanding the Universe. But maybe that is what evoultion is. Merging back into the Universe. And when you realize it all, it all starts over again.....
Peace.

I can see a perfect world. That is all Simple and all Complex. Maybe it sprouted from McKennas idea where we would control the nanotechnology around us that would stop all pain and would stop all harm. Like a world that we imagine. Kind of like a computer. But it may already be this way. Our mind is like a computer. We can do many things..... lost my thought....

I think that's an interesting idea... possible? Maybe.

And maybe it is possible to achieve a state of mind like that through meditation.

We are the world inside the world inside the world inside the world. We are beings 'floating around in space' ... I already know what is going to eventually happen. It has already happened. Again and Again and Again and Again. The things is though that we are communication through a television. We are slaves to it. Now what I want to do is walk away from it. But what pulls me back? People are beginning to see what it is that keeps us locked in place. It's a system that someone built to do that. One mind thought of it. Many minds became one and now they keep themselves in power with what they created. We are a being within a being within a being within a being.

I don't think television was created to control people at all. I was created for entertainment. Watching television in moderation, and maintaining critical thought is more beneficial than it is harmful. Not only can it keep you informed on world events (of course, supplemented with other media), but it is a window to culture and thought in your society.

Sometimes what it says is bullshit, sometimes it's absolutely true. Some people waste all their time watching television, but I'm not sure if their problem is television, or if it's a lack of passion or interest in other things.

This doesn't jive well with Novelty theory

Energy is simple and complex. We are all just energy...we are simple (food, sex, etc) and complex (abstract thinking, cellular and atomic activity) at the same time. This existence is simply complex. :smirk:
