Ever Feel Like God?

grrrr... i just typed a whole, long, nice, detailed post about an exceptional trip in which i felt like God -- and my connection failed to go through when i submitted it! wiped it all out! grrrr...anyway, the point of all of it was, i usually spend my trips convincing myself that i'm not God... trying to look at the logic and evidence proving that i'm not... anybody else out there struggle with this, or am i alone? or do you all think you're God and not worry about proving why you're not? which leads me to another thought i have when i momentarily run out of things to convince me i'm not I Am... in the beginning was God. All that is is of Him that Is... and one day, everything will return to Him... I am and one day I will return... will I then be alone? so ummm... anyone? thoughts? complaints? praise? (hehehe... just kidding...) ------------------ I always thought that "Stop, Drop, and Roll" was a way to save your life if you caught on fire, but then I realized my grade school teachers were advocating my later drug use.

All the time. I love to think I am a god. Sometimes I imagine everyone around me is like a charade for my entertainment.

You are indeed your "god" - you control your entire world, and every reaction to every occurance in your perceptions. of course that's just MY opinion; i could be wrong.
edit #1 (addition): however, since i'm MY god, I can interfere with your godly plans - we're all kinda like zeuss and all those old ancient gods fighting eachother all the time because we all have different views of how the final "utopia" should be, even if only slightly different... I guess this means that collectively, mankind is mankind's god... of course there areo ther lifeforms that can interfere with even THAT godliness..
-=- Matt/Strumpling -=- we're all our own "gods," in a way
-------------------- Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

Its kinda hard for me to think I'm not part of God when I have no ego.
It's just too hard to turn your back and cover your ears to something so profound and unmistakingly more real that real. When you have all the answers to everything at your fingertips, you just know you are God (or a fragment of God).
-------------------- What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

you don't think being alive and at least semi-conscious and able to knock something over or make a painting is simply fantastic?!

Sure... but that is much different than feeling like "god".

well we've once-again got an issue with definitions.... first of all I don't believe in "god," but i'm saying I often feel like what my definition of god is, which is an all-knowing, all-encompassing thing.
I know everything that I know. My own personal perspective encompasses everything I ever experience. thats all i'm saying - I control my reactions to everything. I'm not talking about that Solipsism-kinda stuff you've brought up recently.
edit (addition): meaning i'm the closest thing to my definition of "god" that i've come across. and you are your god. and he's his god. and she's her god and so on.. I think that was Jesus' whole point, and everybody really fucked that one up..

I still think my first reply works.
I think there's a neurological explanation for the "one-ness"/ "I feel like god"/ "I am all-knowing" etc. I can't say that I haven't had that feeling and believed it (not sure when it was that I stopped believing it, but I have), but I am pretty damn sure it wasn't real. Though my ability to "recognize" patterns seems to get a boost when I'm tripping... Like I've said, I used to be heavy into the "Dude, everything's connected... We're all just one big chemical reaction...". Then one day I started analyzing the ramifications of such ideas... I found that those ideas worked best in a more delusional state.

That's funny... I used to firmly believe we were all seperate, non connected beings, then I did some thinking and realized the same thing.

We're all definitely interconnected... I'm not arguing that. However, we ARE separate. Our wills, our bodies, our emotions... sometimes we sync up with one another, but we are definitely not part of one great being (unless you're speaking metaphorically).
Unless you like being part of the same beast as Dubya... Shit maybe YOU are a part of some galactical machine, but I'm not. That's probably why I'm always arguing with you.

i'm not talking about one-ness....
My entire world is in my brain. I've got the most control over my brain. Therefore I find myself closest to "my god" than anything else could be.

You should rephrase (in a new thread?) what you're talking about then. "God" is overused. Find a new word.

I agree with Sclorch - delusions of grandeur - paranoia. Expanded consciousness does not equal "feeling like God." Pathologically inflated ego-complex does not equal omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence.
When 'God' or the 'Transpersonal' Reality (in any religious tradition) manifests, indwells the human center, or otherwise is experienced by a human being, a few oft-mentioned phrases come to mind like 'Mysterium Tremendum et Fascinans' - the Tremendous and Fascinating Mystery [of Being]. Another term by the same source (Rudolph Otto in 'The Idea of the Holy') is 'Numinosum' - an awe-inspiring, and usually overwhelming condition which juxtaposes man's infinitesimal and temporal existence with The Infinite and Eternal Ground of Existence, called 'God.' "No man may see the face of God and live,'' reads the OT, and in Greek myth, Zeus' true form annihilated a human who saw him. The aftermath of an encounter with the Numinous results in humility, and compassion for self and others - not ego-inflation.
