Being so called "Intellectual" is just a term to define someone with eclectic interests. Many is the time that I wished I could talk with my peers about sports, pickup trucks, or, god forbid, riding lawnmowers. I would at least fit in...but fitting in was not my fate. I have NEVER fit in. I would hesitate to scorn a man who, while not understanding or caring about software development, can repair my car. We are different for our talents and interests and none is beneath another.

anyways. I am not sure I am convinced that all talents are equal. I guess the worlds physically strongest man, and the worlds most intellectual man shine in each way.. but how can I choose? I am in college so clearly I am trying to widen my understanding- but at what level.. I guess understanding world history will help me a little, but not compared to understanding myself or the universe..

And what about the really strong people who lack mental strength.. is it a worthy trade off to master your body over your mind? I am sure you could develop both to a certain extent.. but you gotta choose.

And aside from mental or physically knowledge/know how- what about the area of heart/insight.. Is it not better to be good in certain areas rather then other? Even though we all add a piece to the puzzle..

We all have different gifts. I was gifted at being good with books and learning...I was also gifted with being an exceptionally large (as in tall) and strong built person. As a young man I lifted weights frequently and thought myself to be in very fine condition. Unfortunately I was clumsy, and had a tendancy to daydream. So, I was never very good at football or basketball...both of which I was impelled to play. I eventually shunned sports to pursue that at which I found I was talented...programming. I come from a blue collar familly, and while I like to fancy myself an intellectual, I am severely disturbed at the insinuation that those with little education are of of less value. This is a COMMON viewpoint I hear from certain educated individuals in places I have gone to school and worked. My grandfather had a 3rd grade education and accomplished more than I ever will.

Oh yeah! You don't choose...the matter will decide itself on it's own. Be what you are; not what you feel you should be, either way. Ignore the pressures others place upon you.
