Reincarnation

Lots of people i meet are very excited about the idea of reincarnation. It seems to have turned into another way of undermining death to them. They think "Im going to continue, i have my karmic debts to work out and my friends to come back to! Maybe i will come back as your child!!!"
Nobody stopped to consider that they might come back as mosiquito or a slug. This veiw seems very strange to me. When people think about reincarnation they ususally thin " Great im going to live forever" for me when i think of it i get real sad, and really want to get out of this endless cycle, in this lifetime please!!!

You chose in birth, what who you become, anything you intended.
Knowledge comes in death release, and so in dreams, when you re-member, yourself. :P

Sinbad you need to research the idea of reincarnation a bit more.
When people think about reincarnation they ususally thin " Great im going to live forever"
not that I'm any expert, but from my understanding people who think about reincarnation also think about karma, and believe that once all of their karmic debts are paid off, they will cease reincarnating and become One with the Great Other or whatever. they're not looking forward to reincarnation with longing, instead they're trying their damndest to escape the cycle

How is a human soul going to get into a slug? That wouldn't work very well..
I think that maybe, human concsciousness can inhabit the perceptions of certain animals for short periods of time between incarnations.. in order to gain a sense of survival and 'animal instinct' for the physical world.. hence the native american totems.. but I do not think that one can change from human in one life to slug in the next or vica versa.
The point of the cycle is to constantly evolve.

the tibetin book of the dead describes how to not be born again and also if you are you get to see who your parents are. in fact you get to actually watch them make you..........kinda gross.

i personally believe in human reincarnation, but you have no memor of your previous life, flashes if you put a lot of time and energy into trying to remeber, becuase it will allways be imbedded in your subconscious, but you can only catch flashes and glimpses with years of training, so therefore I dont live ofrever, my soul is, however, beyond the plane of mortality, it reincarnates itself to learn more, to better itself, when it is done with the human plane, who knows, maybe that is when our soul enters the animal world because animals do seem to have a better understanding of things, in my opinion.

what i mean is that they think that becuase they have infinte past and future lives, that there is a continuety, a feeling of living forever instead of blacking out into a void. Or some fatalist ideas that lots of westerners harbour about death.

well some people need certain beliefs as a crutch, so as to keep them from completely falling apart at the thought of death. (like my new avatar???)

What about reincanation into past lives. Like reincarnating to an ancestor from the 1400s. A question ive always wondered.

Assuming that a soul is measured in dualistic terms. I have always looked at the soul as our shared aspect with 'God'. A person, a tree, a rock, or a slug, we all share the same soul, we are all a part of one another at some level. I am not claiming that your soul and my soul are the same... and yet they are.

Time is contantly moving forward! But in the real sense time is just the concepts of past, present and future, that we project onto the moment.
When rebirth occurs its just our conciousness yearning for a physical body, so we enter the next suitable womb according to are karmic condition, and the condition of our emotions at the time of death.
The tibetans say that leaving the body through specific exits such as the nostrals, anus, ears, crown charkra and so on dictate or next realm of existance. this is very much depednant on our karmic actions and our state of mind at the time of death.
I find it very strange that people who get regressed in hypnosis generally recall being a human being in their past life, usually some historical figure or famous person. i think this is mainly just another fantasy!
Im pretty sure that not so many lifetimes ago i was a rabbit! mainly because i have hightened animal instincts, excellent hearing and have an affinity with rabbits, its like they recognise some part of me and are not afraid of me.

seuss look at it like this... a soul is not human, a soul is not animal, and a soul is not plant, a soul takes no form besides whatever form that soul decides to take, so a soul could, in theory, posses any object it chooses.

indeed, i remember doing some sortof a project in my sophomore science class about the difference beetween "brain" and "mind", pretty interesting to ponder upon.
