Curious About Your Thoughts On This
    #3054429 - 08/26/04 05:15 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

If modern science, modern medicine, gifted philosophers, accredited theologens, prominant religious figures have it all figured out then why does anyone come to the S&P forum?

is this a serious question?
no institution "has it all figured out" in any of the aforementioned areas.

obviously it is an ill formed question, and the asker would benefit from my knowledge.

not everything has been figured out which is why the S&P forum exists

That's why I wrote "if" and I did ask the question in seriousness.

I don't understand what you mean..

If we figured it all out we'd be spending time in constant orgasm creating art and letting machines do all the dirty work, spreading throughout the universe and universes beyond.

Unfortunately we haven't figured it all out so we chill here on S&P and happily struggle together to grasp any little bit of it

You figured it out! People who don't think the forementioned institutions have all of the answers are giving reason for why they come here and I was curious to here them.

I was thinking about why I come here and was wondering why others do.

I really enjoyed your reply. That was funny!

I liked Ed's first one to!

I also think the question serves as a thoughtful reminder of what our own intentions are for being here when we log in, read and write.

to share ideas on the nature of being.  to be openminded about certain issues and to be exposed to new ideas.  why limit oneself to one way of thinking when we can have all of them?

--------------------
Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Fair enough!

I don't feel like I am totally sure why I am here 1/2 of the time to be honest which is why I started questioning my motivation for loggin in.

It started with curiousity as I am always looking for inspiration and food for thought. I'm curious about what others have come to understand about the workings of existance. I'm curious about what makes people tick. I also like watching and studying patterns here very much!

Once I got sucked in because this is a great place to satisfy those curiousities, other reasons kick in, like extablishing relationships with people, realising the self growth potential opportunities within the dynamics of this group, and it feels good to know where and when I have touched or helped or inspired another.

Curiousity tops the list!

maybe their should be a thread started asking"why have you come to s&p?"

i came to the shroomery because i wanted to read about mushrooms.
then became intrested in reading about cultivation.
Then i found the forums board.
Read the posts in mushroom cult. .
Then i scrolled down.
Spirtuality and Philosophy?
Whoa thats exactly what i've been looking for!!!!
Could this be for real?? :eyemouth:
i read some posts for awhile
AND ITS FOR REAL!!!! :yesnod: :headbang: :penis: :rotfl: :handth: :birthday: :jamming:

when i found that out,i had alot of questions for some people.
i even had some questions about my thoughts from other people to see how i could work some things out for myself so i could help other people.

Gettinjiggywithit,

I was amazed by the knowledge I had gained from my last trip. Me and a group of like minded friends discussed everything contained in the document about holographic universes. We had no prior knowledge of this but were able to discuss it in detail. We have the knowledge if we tune in. We can be smarter than the smartest scientist. Joe average can come up with theories as detailed as Stephen Hawkins if you tune in.
As for people figuring it out, we have to find our own truths in our own time. Some things have been kept under wraps, because that is the way it was supposed to be, but I know that the vibrational energy of this universe is increasing. More of us are being led to truth. This forum gives us an opportunity to feed and respond, to spread knowledge and to reassure ourselves that we are not going crazy. Change is happening, Evolution is evolving, and nothing can stop this process....Enjoy the experience..!!

i come here because i like to see the people that come here take risks with thought and words and talk about things which outside of an anyonymous message board might not be so easy to talk about.
i like to dwell on the fringe of popular thought.  it's wonderful to see people integrating psychedelic experiences and really excersizing their brains.
i'm interested to read what other open minded people think about the nature of this reality which lies beyond flesh & bones..
mainly i come here because it's one of the greatest forums in online history

I think some people have "figured it out" as it where but as to why they would not come to a place like this could prob. be explaned by the fact any "enlightenment" is very very personal so what has worked for say my will not work for you I look at it this was I am walking a road and my raod might run parralel to others or even cross but each road is for one person so the best I can do is act as a sign post to point a direction but I connot say to where only show where I have been and where I am going at leave it up to the person to use that information as best they can. The greatest minds in spirituality if you notice never give awnsers but only ask questions so that the person being asked might find there own awnsers or better yet form there own questions

Some things in mathematics are absolutely unknowable. This has been shown to be true by G?del's (meta)proof. I suspect that there are things in the physical world that also may be unknowable regardless of the effort used to know them.

2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

i think this is a paradox created by our limited linguistic forms. All paradoxes can be resolved by a change of perspective though.

For example, the idea that there are no absolutes can be said to be the only absolute. It makes sense, even though its paradoxical.

This post was put up almost 3 weeks ago. I was just seeing so much negative skeptism here at the time with most dialog requiring proof that I began to wonder about the question I asked.

Look at a lot of the reasons that people put up. The over all concensus was that the modern world doesn't have all of the answers nor does it know it all as in "case closed on abosulte truth".

If it's so easy to see it this way, why are people being given such a hard time when they challenge "the truth" of modern insitutions?

I don't care to discuss this anymore myself. I just posted it to raise some awareness and find out why people who claim its all been figured out come here. Of course, THEY didn't reply..
