why have you not posted a similar rebuttal when someone quotes McKenna or some other expert as backing for their point of view?
Well, let me think about this honestly. When someone makes a statement like "alien experiences, UFO encounters, etc is all internal mindplay, it can't be real" I am annoyed that someone seems to be totally closing themselves off to the possibility that these types of things are in fact real. From what I've read of McKenna, he doesn't say one thing or another is definately true, but rather entertains a wide variety of *possibilities* (the key word).
I agree that someone who has more experience will generally have more insight and knowledge in those areas, but this does not mean that they know for sure what is true or not.
Last time I checked, McKenna's books weren't free. No one here is putting a price tag on their words. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, Swami isn't an absolutist... so the whole "closed off to the possibility" argument holds no water.
Of course, this is probably just bullshit "skeptic" talk.....
