Yeah that might make sense to any one that hasnt been paying attention for very long. What are you a chavist? Those are all lies. Also why do you think theyre sanctioned?

And when I say their poverty was manufactured, I don't just mean by sanctions. We have a history of flooding targeted countries with counterfeit bills, destabilizing trust in their currency. All part of the plan to dangle dollars as the safe option they should convert to.

Eventually the only option for the governments of targeted countries is to void the old currency and print new denominations. Citizens wealth gets erased as collateral damage, and creates anger toward the government that looks like the one scamming them. But when a country gets to be in as bad a situation as Venezuela, even counterfeit dollars can circulate unrestricted, traded for what little authentic currency is left. When the CIA does this it's like pouring accelerant on the theft and poverty manufacturing.

Of course you would think that Nicholas Maduro was running a socialist utopia.

It was a dictatorship. Donald Trump has a dictatorship that destroyed a dictatorship.

I don't know about "destroyed". Rather "seized". And now Trump is dictating the seized dictatorship.
He's apparently already made threats against their new commander-in-chief.

And besides, we can blame the US for inciting poverty and destruction upon Venezuela.
But there are no one else to blame the destruction of the US, than the US itself, which elected its own dictator.

I wouldn't be surprised if the goons really running the show will at some point get fed up with Tronald and dump him in favor of some other assrag.

More often than people want to admit, two things are true at once.

I agree with you, largely, especially because we have a long long history of forcing violent regime changes in South America and then screaming "SPEAK ENGLISH" at the refugees that inevitably head our way as a result of it.

But Trump is a demagogue who is part of a larger world wide trend of demagoguery, violently populist rhetoric, and creeping authoritarianism. Every country has their own version of Trump and of MAGA, and we have seen this point in the cycle before.

Given that most demagogues progress to dictators - I think it's accurate to call him a dictator with his repeated violations of the constitution, his history of insurrection, degradation of separation of powers and of people's rights, politicization of the courts, etc, at this point. He has openly said he will operate like a dictator on day 1, and for once he has kept his word.

Anyway, congrats fellow Americans. We have another massive recession and a new pointless war for oil!

I don't know why my post is bolding and I'm too stoned to figure it out rn.

I definitely don't want to take sides here. I want to say that Maduro was an absolute piece of crap. It's not like he was a nice guy. Then again I was going and just taking out whatever dictator President we want whenever we want maybe isn't healthy. Now I guess Trump says we are going to acquire greenland? Maybe we should. Maybe the acquisition of Greenland is a good idea. Really though Iceland is green and Greenland is just all ice. But I guess if Trump doesn't want to take that crap from Denmark and Denmark doesn't have nukes it's time to just go ahead and go acquire that land.

I don't know maybe none of that's a good idea. The interesting thing though is the amount of Americans that are protesting getting rid of the president of Venezuela. But down in Venezuela no one seems to give a crap mostly they're just like celebrating. It's like if we went in and got rid of castro. Yes yes I know Castro's been gone for almost a decade now or at least a decade now.

My main point is certain Americans might think that's absolutely brutal. LOL no one in Cuba would give a crap. To them it would be like freedom like you've never heard of before.

I kind of feel both ways about this. The US just extends itself and recreates Cold war situations like on a daily basis and yet I thought the Cold war ended in the 80s.

On the other hand the world starts talking crap about how awful the US is and how the US just invades and takes over whatever dictator they want and majorly opposed to it. But really they should all shut the fuck up. Honestly everyone does the same crap. If it was communism doing it if it wasn't supportive North Korea or China or Vietnam it would be no big deal. Then all the US allies would be saying it's brutal. When it's the US that does it all the allies of the countries against the US say it's totally brutal.

IMHO I'm just sort of like you know fuck what the US does it's just nonsense bullshit Non-Stop. This is what a taxpayer money does? But on the other hand I'm like fuck Venezuela. Another beautiful country tarred by poverty they could be totally beautiful place with some redevelopment. Screw that terrorism shit. Screw Maduro. Some country wants to go and take him back find out what happens when you mess with the US.

😂... But then again  we don't want any more of that nuclear war crap. Maybe everyone can just knock all that stuff off.

I'm really thinking about acquiring some real estate in Greenland though. Check if someone else doesn't want it I'll go take it and fix it up and make it nice and pretty. Why not?

Oh there is a protest group of loyalist Maduro supporters.
They have their little protest in the town Square. Everyone around them in Venezuela is celebrating.

I even heard some Venezuelan reporter try and make it sound like it was a 50-50 split. Not even close. There's a bunch of die hard and everyone else is happy about it.

Nicholas is a piece of shit. He got taken out by a piece of shit. That doesn't mean that we can't enjoy that Maduro has been removed from power.

What I am hoping and seems to not be happening is that the exiled opposition leader comes back and takes over.
So far the same government is in charge with the president missing. They've been rounding up and arresting opposition. Just like they were during the election. Nothing's changed. Yet Trump has said that America is going to run that country for a little while.

What does that mean?

Regime change.

i.e. U.S. Imperialism doing whatever the hell the government's been set to by the MIC - manufactured largely those whom profit from its continued existence - for whatever it wants, and then putting on airs regarding 'justification' about it before, during, and after the fact.

I'm sure a nice theatre play is about to happen wrt the Mad lad's 'trial' in the US.  Hard pass on believing the story lines from that one though.

I think I said it best just as I said it. I'm not saying I have a feeling one way or the other. If people don't support the takeover and protest it fine. I'm simply saying most of Venezuelans seem to be celebrating the removal of this person the way that most Cubans would be celebrating the removal of castro. If he was still around.

Now on the other hand when Batista finally took off Castro stepped in. So celebrating the removal of one dictator is not always very smart. If history has taught us that.

I was simply just saying....

.... Many people are protesting this. I think most of them are not Venezuelans. I think most Venezuelans don't give a crap that he's gone. Any more than Cuba would miss Castro

I think I just realized Trump is absolutely serious about taking over Greenland. I thought it was some kind of joke. What the hell does he want with Greenland anyway? It's an ice ball.

I almost support it. Aren't there like less than 100,000 people that live on the entire continent? Well I guess it's not technically a continent. But might as well be. It's as big as Australia right?

Does that seem mean of me to think it's ok to invade and take it over from Denmark? LOL you think it will be like D Day invading Normandy all over again? Thousands lined up on the beaches shot to crap in minutes from mg 42s? Finally overtaking the beaches and then Patton going deeper inland, rescuing encircled troops with air support, slapping soldiers over exhausted from battle etc.?

😂 I imagine you could practically just walk right in and take the country and almost no one would care, not even Denmark.

Idk  what do I know? You think it will happen? Trump sure knows how to acquire property though. He is after all precious owner of Trump Towers and now as the president he may just want to acquire more land. think anyone will stop him?

Ya, but Maduro's regime is still in place. The policy is still in place. Where are you seeing that people are celebrating this and how do you know you're not seeing deepfakes, which have been proven to be flooding the internet?

Furthermore, why would Venezuelans be celebrating when functionally nothing has changed for them?

I'll say it again. Yet another pointless waste of taxpayer dollars on a war for oil, and a nice fat recession. On top of another 2 trillion added to the debt in the name of "FiScAl CoNsErVaTiOn."

Funny how all this coincides with the DOJ's outright refusal to release more than 1% of the Epstein files - actually, they literally released less than 1%. Looking at the trade deal that Canada is currently cooking up with everyone in the world but us, I don't think a good chunk of Americans realize that we have irreparably damaged not only our reputation but our trade relations, even if we reversed course tomorrow it would not matter.

Literally I don't know if they're defects or not. But I will tell you this. When Castor actually did die same thing his regime did not change. And believe me people were celebrating up and down the streets. And not just in Cuba LOL. Honking their horns all day and night. They were very happy.

Now I'm not sure how people felt about Maduro. But just because his regime is not gone does not necessarily mean people are not happy he's gone.

But since I've never been close to Venezuela or Venezuelans like that I really don't know the feelings. Maybe you're right. Maybe they are deep fakes. I doubt it. But who knows?

Meanwhile

Still can't understand who would want to "take over" that country. Might as well just take over Antarctica.

I guess we will see what happens

It gives every other country the moral right to take us out for fear of their own safety and ending up like Venezuela.

Congress gave the power to the executive with the Authorization for Use of Military Force of 2001  that has been used by both parties to justify acts of war anytime, any place and against any persons or groups deemed terrorists by the executive.

So yeah it is an act of war, we are at war and have been for 25 years now.

There is an effort to limit those powers https://apnews.com/article/senate-war-powers-venezuela-trump-maduro-greenland-e1c5c8390eb2331779504b710fe85025 but don't hold your breath, legislators are happy to abdicate their responsibility and play political theater blaming the current executive branch.
