Vermiculite really isn’t gonna harm you. I don’t think the grains will either. Can’t say I’ve been harmed by a tiny bit of either here and there.

When should I harvest the stones? Is it months or weeks or a year?

I eat a few.  should be real tender.  Its tasty.  No starchiness or crunchiness.

I got my stones from my jar after two months, then spawned the grain to bulk. I let that colonize a month, then cased it. It fruited for like two months and then I retired the shoeboxes and harvested the stones. I could have kept both the jars and the shoeboxes going, but there was no need to. It has been said here that the longer you let the stones mature the more potent they will be.

Can also make tea with the stones to avoid the whole issue of foreign matter and potential bacteria, if that's on anyones mind.

Extracting from contaminated grains can still make you sick, even with citric acid and boiling.

No doubt! But if you can’t get all your grains off the stones, how is that handled?

Anything that I harvested I know, although not with 100% certainty, that I had no contamination. As far as I can tell I got all the grain off my stones, with the exception of husks here and there. Those just seem impossible to fully get off even with washing.

Good to know and thank you for the correction.

I retired a couple small trays today. Decent haul of taters after a pretty good run of fruits.

Thanks! Those are some of the prettiest fruits I've had so far. Time to start the next round.

A bit about caps and printing, guys. If u have some problems with it.
1. You need VERY MUCH FAE, something like 8 per hour. When i say FAE, i mean FULL air exchange. U should remove all dirty air and bring new fresh and cool, NOT mix them.
2. You need light 6500k 12/12.
3. You beed some nitrogens in substrate. Horse or cow manure, vermicompost, sapropel works. Something about 30-40%.
4. You need SPRAYING water on cake surface and mushrooms 3-5 times per day. Wait until pins length becomes about 1/2". Use fog generator(like 99.99) or just small garden sprayer(like me). Just push button about 10 times and make SMALL condensate on cover surface and mushrooms, like on grass early morning. Dont do like 99.99 - too much water is a way not for newbies in spraying.
5. Make prints when caps will be like cup of tea. Cut it, drop to the foil, then add by syringe a few drops of water on EVERY cap. Yeah, its really cap like a cup xD
6. After 12-24 hours u will get big awesome  prints.

Fruits caps are ready.

After 8 hours of printing.

You dont need nitrogen. The quart jars of dried fruit I have are proof of that.

Grow them like cubes but with more air and mist them a couple times a day. Maybe one could fiddle with substrates and such to squeeze more out of it - idk. I've only run tamps twice now, but despite abusing the shit out of those boxes, including removal of psuedo casing, they still fruited better than expected.

Dont complicate it, amigo.

I shrudded. Its not advices for best fruiting, its results of my experiments to boost spore productions on some shitty tampanensis genetic lines.
And yeah, they grow on 100% coco substrate + grain.

I had some Stones in the fridge for a couple of weeks, now there or some with a black side . I think the black sides were in the bottom where some water accumulated.

I dont think in is rot ( no smell  ) , but would like to know what it is and of they are still eatable . When i scrape a bit of there is a blue color ( oxidized psylobine ? ).

I should have dried them right away , they are ready strong and it is a Shame of they would go to waste.

ATL7 stones in a 24 oz pickle jar, growing on rye simmered with coffee. These look okay, right? The dark spots are shadows from fissures where stones cracked the mycelium.

Those jars look like typical ATL7 jars with a lot of stones. You’re good bro! How long those been going in the jar?
