All good info.
I have not tried my dry stones. They seem like a pain to work with. So I can't say how they measure up by comparison. My weights and calculations match yours, but like I said, I have had my calculated doses bite me in the ass before.

I have commonly heard anything from 13 to 20 grams of fresh stones being about like 2 to 2.5 grams dried cubes. But that is all pretty subjective. That is why I say things like "very approximately" and "ime".

In any case, it is always a good idea to start lower and work your way up to be cautious. You can always take more, it is a lot harder to take less once you realize you over shot.

Another possible variable with sclerotia is the age of them. Many have reported in the various threads that stones that have been in jars for 6+ months are notably stronger than younger ones. That seems plausible since the same seems to hold true for certain mycelium such as Sempervivas'.

Extra food for thought: when I grew galindoi / tampanensis, I'd let the jars age 4-7 months and then spawn them with the sclerotia. Fruits were (IME) about as strong as woodlovers, gram for gram, but with that really mellow, nice quality. Instead of just a mental headbutt.

I had the idea they were way more potent than fruits from jars, spawned at 100% colonization.

I would agree that my 20g felt like 2-2.5
I would also agree that the head high was lacking. It was more like being sober with some visuals, right up until things kinda took a dark, introspective turn on me. It was unpleasant, but wound up being therapeutic at least.

@AZ - I tossed them bc we were bustling about prepping Thanksgiving stuff and I found the bowl of stones in the fridge, wasn't sure how to best preserve them, didn't need guests spotting them, and decided I didn't like them enough to bother addding anything to the to do list. I would otherwise agree that nothing gets tossed for no good reason, but I didn't think I'd miss them. And I dont. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

So maybe instead of playing guesswork with stones just collect them when the time comes, and take a small amount that you know won't be a huge surprise a little after the initial dose for an extended peak/second peak? It seems like stones could be difficult to dose just by themselves based off of your experiences. I can't imagine wasting material.

ATL7 1 year old

I know I took some more recent pics.. lost in the cloud atm. I'll post them if I find them lol.

Basically it was this with a lot more fuzz on top. The plan was to make it two years but the fuzz was bothering me and the stars aligned.

Nope. Multi tasking math idiot lol. 18 months. Confirmed by pic date. :facepalm:

They actually turn into stones when dried, they get hard as a rock

After a couple failed attempts to germinate Mex/A, I finally got a few BRF pucks going, and the pucks had big fissures from stones forming internally. Today I dug through the jar in my SAB and separated out some stones.



I carefully broke the largest stones open with gloved hands, then used the scalpel tip to take several tiny samples to agar.



This approach worked well to get clean stone clones from ATL7, and hopefully these will be clean on agar within a few transfers. It was a little easier to clone ATL7 because the stones were larger, but not too bad.

Wait, so you can clone stones? Could you do a PF tek with stones and just forget about the jars? Or would all the BRF in the jar affect how big/many stones could get? If this is possible it could be interesting to make some jars and forget about them, not having to worry about fruiting and misting. Just as another source of material.

What LewDoja said, but PF tek jars aren't great for stones you plan to eat because of all the verm :glittershitz: . You can make grain jars for stones, though. If you search through the thread you'll find tons of info about that.
