Wanna fruit some ATL7... Should I do a Pseudocasing layer or no?

Need these to go as fast as they can...

Clean coco works really fine. I prefer this instead of CV and cactus mixes.

Dang I miss posting my favorite species (one of them) and this thread!
:score:

So this grow is from a tissue clone from this one photo of ATL#7.
It looks different now go figure :stoned:
3

SO NOW here it is, December 7 2025.

Due to personal matters, this tub was neglected on the 3rd or 4th flush.
But something I noticed. They look different again but more like what
AZstarman and other users show and I wondered why???

Sorta that cubensis look if that makes sense, convex round orange golden cap.
Maybe caused by dried warmer conditions.

This picture espcially gives me that "cubensis" look. So beautiful!

Alas I harvested some of the "surface" truffles that took away most
of the casing layer.

A replacement casing was made, and heavily hydrated.
Casing layer (new one) consisted of CVG, Sand, zeolite, and again a BIT
more of CA Cao3 chunks (egg shell).
Surface truffles.Vermiculite, pieces of zeolite,  mycelium, drops of metabolites and truffles are what you see.
Boy are they beautiful, ATL#7 has such a chill BODY-mostly buzz. Tampanensis (not being ATL7) is a bit harsher and more stronger visually. Tamp fruits and stones are like a more nervous hard to breath buzz for me.
Later flushes, fourth.

It's really convenient to store extra harvested stones in a paper bag in the fridge, but they will slowly dry out over time. The same weight of stones a month or two later will be much higher potency, due to lost water weight. :tripping:

How long do spore prints of stone producers stay viable on average?
I have just heard in another thread that prints of exotic species do not stay viable as long as cube prints.
My plan is to collect more sclerotia from Dutch smartshops and to clone them.
But if prints loose their viability after 1 or 2 years i wanna try some different long-term storage teks.
Thanks in advance.

I can't speak to how long the prints remain viable yet (though I'm planning to check mine from a few months ago in the spring), but you could try storing them in water stasis at room temperature. I've had good results with that, dipping a flamed inoc loop in the LI water and streaking plates to reawaken ATL7 cultures on agar after about 6 months in stasis. I made more stasis jars from the agar growth, but will also keep trying the earlier jars down the line.

You could try that along with printing, and that will preserve the cloned sclerotia culture as-is, rather than having to find a new keeper from multispore.

Thank you, pickle_jars, will go both ways. Printing and storing in water stasis.
And maybe i will give slants another try. Made some slants of my Ps. azurescens and Ps. cyanescens cultures, most of them look contaminated. My goal is to collect many species and save those genetics. If i would have to regrow them every year, this would overrun my capacity.

The water stasis is an alternative to slats. I like it because it can be stored at room temperature, whereas I've had enough plants freeze in my fridge that I don't trust it with plant cuttings or slants anymore.

In any case, good luck! Redundant backup methods can only help.

As far as storage with slants or prints, I’d like leaving agar plates out until they dry. I have revived dry plates from five years and they still work great
And even better if they get little mushroom pins on them and they drop spores …because then they’re actually sterile spores

Yeah it’s amazing how resilient mushrooms are.

This was a piece of crispy dried up agar from a tamp plate that was a couple years old. Wasn’t expecting much but couldn’t find my spores so I gave it a shot and it came to life immediately

Dang I wish I kept the old dryed out plates i threw out recently.  Life happened and I stepped away from growing for awhile and lost some good genetics that I could have apparently revived.

In case it's helpful, here's one more thread about preserving cultures in distilled water -- 'Cryovial Tek': Long-Term Storage of Cultures with Cryogenic Vials

A tray with 36x 5 ml or 100x 2 ml cryovials is only about $15, likely inexpensive in the EU too. I've been using 120 ml jars, but that would allow for a lot of redundancy in a small space.

Thanks for the input, 99.99, A.k.a. and pickle_jars.
Really appreciate that.
Will try out several of your suggested storage teks and check which one works best for me.

Mex/A plate (MEA), a T2 of a cloned BRF-puck stone. From what I've seen this color gradient is normal, aside from 10:00 does this look all right? I'm planning on putting wedges to grain for stone jars once it expands some more.

(Edit: The vertical line at the bottom is a lamp stand behind the plate, after I posted the picture I realized it kind of looks like bacterial contam.)

Just wanted to add a photo showing how much this species loves moisture
I have a diffuser set up in my greenhouse to spread out the humidity of everything I grow
Right underneath the center I have a drip from the condensation coming directly from the humidifier and that’s always the first place that these mushrooms grow from, you can tell how wet everything is

Similar looking plate of Mex A. First time with stone producers so not sure if it's the normal brown discoloration or a contaminant. It's been a struggle getting clean spawn with this culture so I'm leaning towards bacteria as well... Either way it's going to a pint test jar soon. I'll let you now how it turns out.

Browning of the plate is typical for P. tampanensis, probably for P. mexicana too.
